How can I get ask.com off my computer for good? I have uninstalled all the ask.com files I can find but it still comes up as my search engine when using Firefox. So annoying.

I have used Advanced Uninstaller in addition to Windows.

In your firefox search box is a magnifying glass left click on it
At bottom of drop down box left click on change search settings
uncheck all services you dont want and check what you do
At top of search settings tab is an option to choose your default search engine. My guess is you have Ask in that box right now.

Try going to the "Tools" tab and then "Extensions" You can uninstall all you want, but they root themselves in as an "Extension" so as soon as you delete it from there and restart your system it should be gone. Hope this helped.

This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
You can download Search Reset from the below link, and then we will just need to install it to revert Firefox to its default settings.

How to set default browser

It seems you "unwillingly" and "unknowingly" installed the Ask.com toolbar from the website you've visited.

Go to Control Panel > Add Remove.
Find Ask Toolbar and Uninstall

Or
Install CCleaner from https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Go to Tools, Find Ask Toolbar and Uninstall.
Do not forget to clean the registry after.

I uninstall ask. Then in Internet Explorer turn off all addons. Then i never use IE again unless it is to turn off all addons again. Then i go to settings in firefox or opera and turn off ask in prefered search engines. Then i go to program files and delete the ask folder. (In Vista/Win7/Win8) Then Windows Explorer/Organized/Folder And Search Options/ checkmark Show hidden files folders or drives also uncheck hide protected operating system files. under C:Program Data delete ask Under Administrator or possibly your account name /Appdata/Roaming look for ask and delete if it is there also /Local Low or /Local Remove ask if you see it This should be enough if it exists in the register windows can handle it or use a registry cleaner.

Remove searchnu.com/406 from google chrome

searchnu.com is a sneaky search engine. it will attempt to take over the search engine you are using now. this happens if you download links or applications that your PC isnt familiar. They usually cause problems right after you install them so you must uninstall them. Ive had this same search engine do the same thing to me. You also need to uninstall google chrome then reinstall along with all your other downloaded search engines. but do not do this with Eexplorer search engine. after you install google chrome with all the other search engines you uninstalled, dont sign in to them for about 3 months. then there is a good chance you wont get them back unless you try to download something your PC isnt familiar with or if the screen pops up and says "this file may harm your computer". your lucky if you didnt get a virus along with it cause that will usually happen. Just be careful what you download.

Install problem

Hard to pin point your problem from your post. However, i'm refering you to the appropriate section in the manual out of the fixya website, follow the instructions as close as possible: http://www.fixya.com/BrowseManual.aspx?prdid=215248&mpgid=26294&hlt=install Some questions first- how come you're being asked to uninstall Benq before you actually installed it? didn't you find the program in the Add/Remove menu? have you tried searching for the file through the explorer search? (right click on start>search 'all or part of the file name "Benq" ' 'look in "local hard drives" ') have you tried restarting the computer? Hope you work it out, and if you don't try posting your problem again with more detail. Good luck
