Go to the Hamilton Beach/Proctor Silex web site and find your unit. You should be able to download the manual there, which would include the safety procedures.

Russell hobbs kettle, There is power to the kettle cable but kettle does not switch on

Without knowing the model, I can only give you a general procedure to follow if you have a meter with volt / ohms reading. Unplug the cord and check it for continuity with your ohm-meter so you are certain that power is getting to the unit's plug. Use your ohm meter to check for continuity with resistance between the kettle's plugs.

Kettle is not working. Totally shut off, no lights, no heat , nothing. Kettle only year old doesnt seem right to me that i am replacing a year old kettle. Appreciate you assistance. Mrs Nagy

Mrs Nagy, they do not make things like they use to, it is getting quite common for small appliance to break down after one year, you would almost swear it is built into them to garnade after warranty is up.
the most common problem, the electric cord itself breaks either at the plug or at the entry point at base of kettle, do a wiggle test on the wire to see if it makes a contact, just be careful of a shock hazard, do not do this if you see any bare wire at all.

Return policy

Fixya does not sell or warrant timers
Copy following link to identify Timex timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#Timex
Timex does not show timers on their website, and unknown who carries warranty for this line of timers.
If you want clear warranty coverage, I suggest Intermatic timers, and Woods timers, or Sylvania, Leviton.
Each of these brands has clear warranty procedure shown on website for each.

Emergencey switch clicks even when turned off emergency switch clicks evan when turn signals are of

there may ber a recall on this problem, it is caused by the turn sigfnal/hazard flasher combination switch relay in the dash, check with the dealer 1st on the recall to see if it applies if not then u will need to replace the flasher unit in the dash, the switch is part of the hazard button and is located behind the ceter panel of the dash here is the whole recall.

2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU -- In December 2004, GM issued a special policy for MY 1999-2000 Alero, Grand Am and Malibu vehicles not covered under recall 03V327. The policy covered turn signal/hazard flasher failure for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurred first) to provide a no cost replacement of the hazard switch. GM sent letters to owners starting December 30, 2004. In January 2006, GM will update the special policy to include MY 2002 Alero, Grand Am and Malibu vehicles not covered under recall 03V-327. The policy covers turn signal/hazard flasher failure for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) to provide a no cost replacement of the hazard switch. GM will send letters to owners starting late April 2006. The actions taken by the manufacturer is sufficient to resolve the issues raised by this investigation. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that no safety-related defect exists. The Agency reserves the right to take future action if warranted by the circumstances. Investigation was initiated on September 27 2005. Closed on January 13 2006. For detailed information & supporting documents, see the official NHTSA page concerning investigation #PE05055 »

I am cheesed off with having to throw away otherwise perfect electric kettes after six months because the spout filter has disintegrated. I live in a high chalk area and the kettle I have at the moment is...

Get one at Best Buy; get the 2 year service policy for 8 bucks. Set an akarm on some computer/PDA thing for 102 weeks away. If, by some miracle, the thing lasts that long, bring it back and get a (free) new one. Oh, get the policy on the new one as well!
