you have to go to the "Network connections" and set up a new network, your computer is probably defaulted to connect to the old modem and since it cannot find it it wont conect

Don't Use USB, USB is SLOWER. Use a Ethernet Cable Just like your Neighbor's Computer. FOLLOW THESE STEPS 1 BY 1......Shut Computer Down, Disconnect from Modem, RESET Modem, Wait 2 Minutes, Connect Ethernet Cable From Modem To Computer, Start Computer Back Up & give a minute or 2 for them to communicate.
PS: If your Modem is a New Setup, make sure it's Connected On-Line or Activated through your HighSpeed Internet Service Provider. Most Important, USE ETHERNET CABLE, Not USB.

Hi,
you didn't mention which version of windows are using so i am going to assume that you have windows XP if that is not the case then let me and i can provide you with an alternate solution.
1. click on the start button
2. click on run
3. type ncpa.cpl
4. right-click on local area connection(if using ethernet cable)
5. single-left-click on internet protocol (tcp/ip)
6. click on properties
7. click on set dns servers manually instead of obtaining automatically
8. enter 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as the primary and secondary servers.
9. restart the computer
if it still doesn't work
1. click on the start button
2. click on run
3. type cmd
4. click ok
5. type nslookup www.google.com
6. hit enter
and reply with the results.

Speaking sensiblty do not use capitals as it's considered bad manners especially seeing as it is you that has a problem not us. You will get the sensible steps here.

I suggest you do not consider a dial up connection because it is very slow.
