Blank screen when i turn my ps3 on, the screen remains blank but the computer is on, a red light also comes on at the back!

hi stuart, try this
1) turn your playstation off so the light is red
2) hold the power button for 6-7 second til it beeps twice

Connect it to another monitor,and see if it comes on. Your screen may be damaged.

Try a video reset. Make sure you have your video cables plugged in.
1: Turn the system to standby/off (where only the red power light is on).
2: Hold the front power button till it turns on beeps twice and shots back off, release button.
3: Turn system back on normally.

See if this works. Turn the system off till just the red standby light is on. Then hold the power button till it beeps twice and shuts down. Then turn back on like regular.

Hello. There are a few causes for this. I will list acouple solutions for you.

1. Reset the Video Output Settings. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings. Once you turn it back on, it should work fine.
2. If option 1 does not work call Sony because the video out chip has blown or come unsoldered.

i have one too and it always turns itself off at least 15 times a day and a red light comes on at the back and the screen is blank. It hangs up on people half way through phone calls, and tells me i have messages wich i don't and comes up with blank messages which i can't delete!! Today it has done the exact same thing again but it has been frozen for over 3hours i have tried taking the battery out and nothing works :(

I have been playing today and just gone back on and not one game will load
