Universal remotes are limited. Power, volume, channel and mute is often all you can get to work. Others buttons such as menu and source and video and antenna and CC (closed caption) will not work with any universal remote. I always recommend the original to my customers. this model of PC has an integrated sound card. this means it is located on the motherboard so you can't replace it. this could be a good thing for you since you can install pretty much any PCI sound card that you want. There are cheap ones and very expensive ones available. Depending what you use your PC for even a cheap one will work, such as if you just play CDs, internet radio etc.
The instructions to install a new sound card will be included with your card, but it is one of the simplest things to install. (open case, insert, close case, let windows install drivers.)
