Some people don't use gloves at all. Look at Fred Couples.
I used my baseball batting gloves for golf and had no
problem. It helps me grip just the same
as authentic golfing gloves do.

Golf gloves help to grip the club and prevent blistering.
Gloves are sold individually and normally worn only on the players'
non-dominant hand, but it is not unheard-of for a player to wear gloves on both
hands to reduce chafing.
They are definitely not a requirement but most people do wear them. Moises Alou and Joes Posada are famous for not wearing them. It is really a matter of preference.
Some people like to use gloves for batting if they are doing it often enough to cause callouses on the skin. They also help with gripping the bat but at a young age, they shouldn't have any problem. My daughter is an avid softball player, playing three to four times a week, and her hands are perfectly fine without gloves.
