No signal from my dvd player

How can I hook up my DVD player to my Proscan 32 inch LCD TV.

I have RED, WHITE, and YELLOW but no picture.

  • aclj12 Feb 03, 2009

Thank You for your response but I try that and I still do not see or hear anything except "NO SIGNAL"

  • aclj12 Feb 03, 2009

I did that and made sure the red white and yellow went to the same color but again I get a "NO SIGNAL" and I even tried all the different input selections. Now I bought a proscan LCD TV and there are many different places where I can put the different color wires, maybe I need different cables.

    Please advise.

    Thanks for your help

Does your TV has same red-white and yellow input pins? If yes, hook cable as per color and select proper input of TV by remote, play dvd player and enjoy.

Please check what input number is at TV pins where you put leads of red-white and yellow. Now select that specific input by tv remote.
Make sure put yellow to yellow, red to red and white to white in player and TV.
If every this is set as above, There is no reason of "no signal" display on TV.

There are 3 known video connecting cables for TV and DVD Players.
Yellow-Red-White calls Composite Video (yellow wire) and red and white for L and R sound channels.
Another is S-Video, it is special connector cable having 4 pins in round connector. red and white for sound also used with it.
Component Video is new thing with Red-Blue-Green pins for video and red-white for audio, so total 5 wires used.
Now you need to look at rear or player and TV for appropriate hook up. Important thing is to select proper AV input in TV to view dvd player picture.

What channel do I set the TV on so that the dvd will play

Hi,
Hook audio/ video cable from dvd player to AV input of tv and select that AV input in tv to watch dvd playback picture.
You will see yellow jack (for video signal output) and red-white jacks (for audio left-right output signal) at rear of dvd player, plug AV Cable and hook it in AV input of tv, make sure yellow pin connected in yellow jacks of dvd and tv.
Thanks.

Dynex dx-32l151a11 the picture is black and white with the dvd player

With a Black and White picture it sounds like you're trying to connect the DVD Player's "Composite" connection to the TV's Component Connection.

Composite is a 3 wire system with Yellow for the video, and red and white for the audio. On your TV this connection is located on the side.

Component is a 5 wire system, with Blue, Green & Red for Video, and Red and White for audio. On your TV this connection type is located on the rear panel.

Check to make sure you are hooking the DVD player & the TV to the same input types.

How do I hook up a DVD player to a proscan 32 inch flat screen tv?

Hello,

to connect your TV to your DVD, you will be needing a RCA wire (Yellow, white and Red wire). The yellow stands for video (visual/display), while the read and white stands for audio (sound).

Look at the back of your DVD, look out for Video Out, connect the yellow wire there. Also look out for Audio Out L & R, connect the white and red wire there.

Then turn the back of your TV, you will find Video, and Audio IN, Connect the other part of the wires from the DVD to the DVD, that is, Video for video and audio for audio.

Once you have connected the wires, turn on your TV, and your DVD player, press source on your TV remote to AV, and you will see your DVD displaying on your TV.

That's to hook up your DVD to your TV. Follow instructions carefully and you won't have any problem.

Good luck.

I have a problem I am trying to connect my dvd player It shows black and white i have a proscan 32 inch what can I do to fix this ? please help.

Check to make sure the Video connector (YELLOW) is connected to a YELLOW plug on both the TV and the DVD. If it is plugged into a GREEN plug then it will produce the black and white picture and not a color picture.

Good Luck...

How do i hook my dvd player to my tv? i have no manual to show me where to plug the wires into the back of my tv.i have a proscan 32LB30Q LCD

Hello pebbles12137,

This depends on what you want to do SD or HD

First if you just want to connect for SD only

Here are Three ways:

1) connect the coaxial cable to the DVD player F-connector (sliver screw connector) and the to the TV's Antenna in F-connector.

2) connect the yellow, red and white RCA connector end wires to the yellow, red, and white RCA Jacks of the TV Yellow (video in), Red (Right Audio in), White (Left Audio in) do the same for the other end into the DVD player (Best SD Method)

3) connect the svideo cable into the s-video socket of the TV and the other end to the s-video socket of the DVD player

For HD, Here are the connection methods:

1) Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI in of the TV (HDMI1)and the other end of the HDMI cable into the DVD player. (best HD method)

2) connect the Component video cable (RGB) into the RGB sockets of the TV (should be marked as Component 1) and connect the other end to the DVD player (using this method you will have to connect the Red and White audio cables to the audio input jacks of the TV from the audio out of the DVD player)

These are the SD and HD methods.

I would suggest using the HDMI cables only, its the best choice and the simplest.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Lcd tv hookup

Ive got 3 samsung tv's (lcd, plasma, DLP) and I use HDMI cables on all of them. Its the only way to get the full potential out of the tv. When you use the red/white/yellow RCA cables the signal is anolog aka "old technology". Component cables are good but HDMI is the best. HDMI is a digital signal and thats what all the components that go with the tv should be run on. If your dvd player does not have an HDMI output I would suggest getting one that has that output. As for the cable box most require you to upgrade to digital cable in order to get one with an HDMI output. If you dont want to spend the money on new components and run what you have now the picture will stay mediocre at best. Good luck hope this helped

42 inch proscan lcd

If you use the connections for DVD you must use all of them.If you are using the standard yellow, white, and red connectors connect them to the connections listed as video and not the DVD titled connectors. But my advise is get an up converting DVD player and use a HDMI cable to get the best picture with out having to brake the bank buying a Blue Ray. I once connected a DVD player to my TV in the same fashion before finding out it only gives you a purplish black and white picture. Up converting DVD players can be bought around 30 dollars and up. A 6 ft HDMI cable will cost around 15 dollars. This way you will be getting the full effect and great picture your TV can produce.

DVD and PS2 in Black and White

Hey, I had this problem on Thanksgiving Day, trying to watch a dvd on my mother's HDTV. You should be able to hook up most standard dvd players to hdtvs. First you have 3 cords, mine were red, yellow, and white. The connections go as follows:

HDTV:
Audio| Component. The white cord should be in a white audio slot. The yellow cord should be in a yellow component slot (video) and the red cord should be in a red video component slot labeled Pr/Cr. Make sure you match the component numbers. For instance, if you want to use component one, then hook all of the cords into the slots for component one. Most hdtvs have multiple component hookups ( think multiple "channels" for your game system, dvd player, etc) so it's important that the corresponding cords go to the correct component slots.

DVD:
Match the yellow and white cords to the appropriately colored slots. The red cord should go into the slot labeled component video out Cr/Pr. Not the red audio out. This worked for me. Hope this helps.
