Check SWR's check to make sure ALL coax connectors are tight. and if still doing it. may be loose connection in board. but the export style radios go crazy like that when coax is loose or have bad grounds. due to there floating ground circuit design. there not the same as a cobra were its case is ground.

How do i set my galaxy dx 88 hl so the talkback is on all the time

turn the talkback knob to the right and push it in to engage talkback.when you get the volume you want leave it alone .Now key the mic.You will probably hear a squeal coming from the speaker. Now turn the volume down on the talkback knob until the squeal goes away.If you run your RF gain wide open it may squeal also.

My radio is a Galaxy DX 98. It squeals when I key up

change "MIC" to a factory,or turn back Mic gain. Mic can short out or may have too much gain(power mics). Use standard dead Mic that was designed for radio. If that does not help,it may be inside radio, wires on MIC connectors need soldered again(make sure they don't touch th eothers.

My radio quells back when my mic gain is turn up more than about quater way

sounds like a faulty "MIC" or bad knob inside radio. Your radio may have too much gain. Try using a ordinary straight "MIC" . Some radios are tuned to operate with a straight mic. If you use a "Power Mic" it may be too much gain and cause a squeal. Impedance of the mic must be matched. If its a 500 ohm use only 500 ohm. If its an 1000 ohm use only 1000 ohm "Mics". A straight factory Cobra mic(Coffin mic) has gave me the best performance I have ever used on a Cb radio. I can talk 50 miles on straight mics.

I have a Connex 4600 Turbo mounted in the headliner of a W900L Kenworth using Wilson 2000 twin antennas and a RK56 mic. When trying to use the "talk-back" feature all I hear is constant...

Strange. You shouldn't have a squealing problem with an RK56 noise canceling mic.

Unfortunately there is no way to change the volume of the talkback. Its too loud. The only solution is to turn the mic gain down.

The only reason you need to have talkback on is to check your audio. Make sure the echo is good and what not. After that you really don't need it on. So turn down the mic gain, then check the echo, then turn off the Talkback and turn the gain back up.

The squeal is feedback from the talkback being to loud and being heard by the mic. So the only way to solve it is to lower the volume of the talkback, (Which is not possible in this radio) lowering the mic gain(which lowers your audio level) or turning it off.

I have a uniden grant and i have wired a galaxy power desk mic with rogger beep when ever i key it up it squeals was wondering is there a way to fix that

yeah your mic gain is way too high. You can either turn off talk back if you can, or turn the gain down. Depending on how loud the talk back is, your audio may suffer. If that is the case, you will not be able to run that mic. Get an RK-56 or a Skythumper mic. They are noise canceling. You will get no squeal with that mic, and it will sound awesome.

If you really want a roger beep, take it to a tech and them install one.

My radio recieves ok but only whistles when i key the mike is this a major fix?

Do you have talkback installed? It my be too loud and causing feed back. Back the mic gain down if so.

Could also be improper mic wiring. If you use a mic that is wired for a different radio, it could just cause a hum, buzz or squeal.

Another thing that can cause a hum, buzz or squeal is a faulty volume and or squelch knob depending on the radio.

  • Turn down or disable talk back.
  • If you cannot turn off or disable talk back, lower mic gain.
  • Try a different mic that you know is wired for cobra.
  • Play with volume and squelch knobs while TX and see if it stops at all. If it does replace knob.

I have a dx98vhp and it sqeels* when i key up when the talkback is on. I've tried adjusting the power and i can't figure it out. Thanks

the talkback is too loud. there is no way to adjust the talkback volume on this radio. Talkback is really just so you can check how your audio sounds and your echo. Once it set, there is really no need to have it on.

Turning down the gain on your mic will stop the squeal.

the squeal is cause by feed back from audio from the talk back being heard from the mic.

OK I remember a similar problem with a connex radio. It seems the driver's fm radio speakers where picking up some signal even with the fm radio off. Shortening the speaker wires helped some, also make sure you don't have any wire or coax coiled up anywhere. Thats about all I remember, hope this helps.

Galaxt 95t when i key the mic i get a squealing noise

Maybe check to see if the talkback is turned on.If so, turn it ouff you mght be getting feedback because the mic is too close to radio. Try external speaker, or a nise canceling mic (rk56,or astetic 623),

Also this is a realitive high power radio, so make sure you have a good match on the antenna and you arent starving the radio for power.

Wish you where more specific about the sqeal if it was feedback or echo was acting up. Alos built in roger beet makes tehe short squueal when unkeying mic.
