I have checked cables and different methods of connecting, but the white and red audio out of my PVR appear to have stopped putting out sound.

Go through the setup of the PVR and check the sound settings. It sounds like it's only producing digital audio, that's why it works with HDMI but you want analog, so set the audio to stereo, or try every setting to see what works!

No sound from the tv tuner card

1. Did the sound ever work?
HARDWARE:
2. If so, then the short cable that is connected from the TV card to your computer sound card came loose.
3. If it has never worked, then you need an audio cable to connect the TV Audio OUT to your Sound card audio IN.
SOFTWARE:
4. If it has worked and the cables are ok, then the "Audio IN" mute box is checked. Double-click the "speaker" icon on the lower-right of your desktop. UNcheck any of the audio mute boxes.
It should work now. If you need clarification, please reply.
Hope this helps!
