My reddy 55 torpedo heater won't start.i plug it in turn switch to high,see glow fan comes on for a few seconds and then shuts off.

WONT FIRE
have you cleaned the air inlets? I have a older (1970's) reddy heater, occasionally it starts getting smokey or not firing at all. I open up where the air filter is and clean out the chamber with carb cleaner; gets the old girl firing up nice again.

Clicks but wont fire
make sure the high voltage lead to the sparkplug isn't touching anything metal on its way to the plug. the clicking may be the high voltage discharging to a metal part, not the plug. those wires age during use.
