My xbox 360 wont read any disc

I turn on my xbox 360 and put in a disc. it says reading...... then it says open tray. i do i about a hundreds more times. It still doesnt work. but it is funny because at first it wouldnt play halo 3. and only that game then almost like a virus my other games wouldnt work. they did the same thing, reading..reading...open tray. my xbox is a halo 3 specail edition. (if that means anything) ive been told its the eye. which it probably is. or the disc is dirty but i clean it. im just looking for a plausible solution, because i dont want to go and waste my money another one if i dont have to.
