I downloaded the 2009 program and now the screen is frozen it says loader loading what do i do?
went to download the 2009 updates on my brand new garmin nuvi-255
the whole thing is frozen
says "loader loading..."
and you can't turn it off
Press the reset button - you'll find it on the lower right of the Nüvi 255, but it doesn't look like a button. It's basically the sticker with all the information on it. It's just enough to push the sticker carefully with something small, not too sharp so it doesn' get destroyed. The Nüvi reboots, the loader loads and proceeds with the software load. Once this is over, shut down the Nüvi and reconnect to the PC. Then, everything works fine (it did at least for me).
Just slide the power button over and hold until the screen goes blank. Then power on. It came on with a 'software loading' then proceeded to boot up regularly.
I had same exact problem this morning after updating. The answer? Do what I did, which worked...let battery die, turn back on (using car charger of coarse, since is "dead"). and will be as good as new!!
I found the solution by accident. After calling Garmin tech support and getting no help after being on hold for 30 minutes, I decided to just let the battery run down...since I couldn't turn it off anyway. After it was dead, I then plugged back into computer USB and it turned on without the loader loading message. Was able to then go through the map update process again and it worked fine.

same problem...looking for solution because I can't turn-off and my computer won't recognize when USB plugged-in
I have the same problem, updated the software and now stuck on the 'Loader Loading" screen.
Seems like the only answer is to let the power run down, which sucks because I used it this morning and it is fully charged...
I have the same problem. I let the battery run down but when I plug it back in, it freezes at the "Loader Loading..." screen. I will let it go overnight I guess, and check again in the morning.
man this just happened to me too... something must be wrong with there new firmware or something.
Same thing with my 255...
Any idea??
