I replaced the the thermostat but it is still to cold in the fridge upper part even when the dial is on position 1. Water freezes on the drain outlet and stops it functioning. Can I set anything on the actual thermostat unit to increase its temperature before it switches the cooling unit on There are small grub screws that are obviously factory set , one of these must adjust the temperature range.
You've indicated that you have changed the thermostat but the model number you have given is electronically controlled via an NTC. If the the unit is built in there is a possibility that one of the following is causing the problem
a. the seal is no longer catching properly because the decor door needs adjusting.
b. the internal lamp is not switching off when door closes and is creating heat that the fridge is trying to compensate for
or
c. the fridge fan is not operating and not circulating the air to the sensor. (You can check the fan and light by pressing the switch at the top of the fridge compartment frame, the fan should run and the lamp go off when the button is pressed).
Try these first and repost if this does not help.
what is an ntc? I have never thought this fridge had a fan ...
That is what I am trying to establish as the model number you have given K9724X4GB is a built in frost free fridge freezer which is electronically control, has a fna in both fridge and freezer compartments?? Can you check the Enr number to confirm the model, it is on a rating plate on the left hand of the fridge when the salad container has been removed.
Use this link and let me know if this is your appliance http://www.neff-eshop.com/eshop/neff/gb/...
You have not reposted so I'm hoping that means the problem is sorted. If not a did fail to mention that the temp control (of the model you gave) is not a setting but the actual temp....so, the higher the number the warmer the fridge, if you have set it to 1, this is 1 degree and that is the coldest the fridge can be set which will obviously freeze certain item (especially cucmbers, tomatoes etc). Generally the fridge would be set around 4 or 5.

Neff have just said to me that the most probable reason is the seal not being tight enough

The defrost board is not functioning properly.;
When the freezer section gets cold and reaches
its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section
starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool
air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the
freezer gets cool but fridge section does not cool.Try manual defrost by unplugging the
refrigerator from main power outlet for 4 hours then reconnect it and check, if
the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The
defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts
from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank
you.
