Replacing the slot on your machine will no only include soldering, but you're talking about soldering AT THE VERY LEAST 168 connections. When a slot goes bad, it is not deamed a "repairable" situation. The best solution, unfortunately, is to replace the motherboard and salvage the processor, ram, etc.

Cheers!

Ram not working

Step 1:
A memory slot is a slot in your motherboard where you place your RAM (Random Access Memory) card. In layman's terms, the RAM is the "temporary memory" that the computer utilizes whenever it is turned on. If the computer cannot detect a RAM card installed in one of your memory slots, you have to troubleshoot the problem immediately.
Ensure that the problem is with the RAM slot and not the memory card. Turn off the computer, unplug all devices connected into the ports of your computer and open the computer casing. Refer to the manual of the computer to know the specific steps to follow in opening the computer casing. Remove the memory card from the RAM slot. To do this, unlock the card using both hands. Pull the card away from the slot to remove. Inspect the RAM card for any apparent physical damages. Wipe the card with a clean cloth to remove dust. Also wipe the memory slot in your motherboard. Place the RAM card back into the memory slot. Press the card into the slot until it clicks into place. Close the computer casing, connect the cables back into their respective slots and turn on the computer. Turn on the computer and see if the memory is detected. If the computer does not boot up, the RAM card is not detected by the computer. Assuming that you have two memory cards installed in the computer and the computer boots up, check if the second memory card is detected by the computer. Click "Start," right-click "Computer" and then "Properties." Under "System," check the amount of "Installed Memory (RAM)." If the RAM is not detected, the RAM slot or the RAM card itself may be malfunctioning. Place the RAM card into another memory slot in your motherboard and see if the card is detected. If it is detected, the other memory slot is malfunctioning. Do not install any RAM card into it to avoid further damage. If it is not detected, the RAM card may be malfunctioning. Insert another RAM card into the slot. If the RAM card is detected, the slot is malfunctioning.

Does not recognize ram after removing and reinstalling

Try to insert the memory/ram into other memory slots on the computer. Also, try to get an eraser and erase the part of the memory that is being inserted. If it still does not recognize it, then you may need to replace the memory.

MEMORY/RAM problem, system won't acknowledge both slots of memory

You might have on-board VGA card which take 8 Mb (shared) in memory taken from extended memory card.
My suggestion, use exactly similar memory card ( same PC clock, either 400/533/667/etc. If this won't work, try to clean the memory slots with brush.

open up the side door before you do anything else. Look for a stick or RAM that looks like the one your going to be putting in. When you find the extra slot that the RAM is going in, your going to find two latches one on each side of the RAM slot. The memory itself is slotted meaning it can only go in one way. Put the memory in and line up the slot with the hold on the bottom of the RAM. It should snap into place and the latches will hold the memory into place.

As far as the video card is concerned, its going to go into a long white slot, it also can only go in one way, the metal part of the card will face the outside of the back of the computer and the card will snap into place. After you do this you might need to have to put a screw into the metal slot of the video card to keep it in place.

At this point you can hook up the monitor to the external video card and the thing you might have to do is install the drivers for the video card when you get into windows. It might not detect the video card properly which is why you might have to intstall the software for it.

Also do the memory first to make sure the computer sees it and boots up. If it does then turn the computer off and then do the video card. That way if there is a any problems it will be easy to figure out where the problem is right away.

How do you install ram in a toshiba a105-s4344 laptop

I take it that you already have the correct RAM you need. Wiith that, power off your notebook, unplug it, turn it over and your will see the larg cover closer to the right of the notebook. Unscrew the screw to release the memory cover and place it to the side. Be carefull with static when handling your memory card, install the card into any open slot in your notebook. (The memory card will go in the slot at a 40 degree angle and then 'snap' down into place. Replace the memory cover (the large piece you took off at the begininig.) power up you notebook and the new memory should be registered and ready for use. Good Luck.

Wi-fi ability lost with RAM upgrade

    Hi,

It is possible that the WiFi card was dislodged or inadvertently snap out of position. Should you venture on a DIY, pls remove the bottom panel covering the memory and/or add-on cards. The WiFi card would be the one with one or two black or gray small cable/wire with connectors at the end. Unsnap the said WiFi card, partially remove/pull from the slot, re-insert and snap back. It may be necessary to wiggle a little bit to ensure that the pins are in contact with the corresponding slot pins. Thereafter, close the lid/panel cover and reboot the laptop.

Should problem persist, you may need to return the unit to whoever replaced the memory and present your concern.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

    Good luck and kind regards.

    Thank you for using FixYa.
