7 is the coldest. Defrosting is set up at the factory. It may not be a problem. If it doesn't come out after say 2 hours, then the defrost cycle is faulty.

My frigidaire upright freezer has been working fine until about 2 weeks ago. Now pizzas aren't freezing and freezer corn is soft and i put a ham in it and that was a week ago and it is not froze.

There should be a temperature adjustment inside the freezer somewhere. It will look like a slider or a dial, and be labeled something like "Colder" and "Less Cold" on opposite ends of the scale. If this is set to its coldest setting, and the temperature still is not cold enough to solidly freeze food (ideally, a freezer's temperature should reach ZERO degrees Fahrenheit), then the unit needs to be serviced by an appliance repairman.

My upright Danby freezer is not freezing? Do I set it on 0 or 7

7 is the coldest. Is this a new unit. You should hear and feel a click when you turn the t'stat on. If no click, then it is bad and need a new one.

What is the proper setting on my freezer that has a dial of 1 to 7? My products seem to get iced over.

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Sounds like you have a defrost issue. 5 is a good number, what ever it takes to keep you freezer at zero. Hence your unit is not defrosting. All of this apply's if your freezer side has ice on it.

Here is a list of some things that can go wrong.
1. Defective heat coil
2. Defective defrost timer
3. Defective defrost sensor
4. Defective Fan
5. Defective compartment inlet damper (on some models)

You should call a service company to resolve your issue.

Since I tried to help you, Please help me and Rate/Vote on the response. Thanks

Danby freezer leaking water

there is a line from the freezer defrost pan to the evaporation pan at the bottom. They often get clogged with bugs, dirt, etcWhen that happens, the defrost pan overflows resulting with a spill of water. Find it, blow it free , and you should be OK.good luck, John

Temperature control

I have a danby mini fridge and freezer and noticed the same problem. The temperature dial has NO NUMBERS ON IT! it just has a strip that goes from light to dark blue. That's it. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anywhere which way is colder...it makes sense that the darker the blue the colder the temperature but why keep us guessing?

GE used refrigerator....

I would try defrosting first. If no difference, or worse then you may have a refrigerant leak. You could always try setting back to the original setting. Hope this helps.
