these have major issues during updates. mine also failed after update in very similar fashion. and after searching a lot of forums apparently its a very common thing. unfortunally i never found any solution to this. and ended up having to throw it away since it was past its warranty period. i suspect it was a buildt-in planned obsolescence since it was very rarely used (less than 6 times) but maintained at ideal long term storage condition
By dropping out I am assuming you mean it freezes up and turns off.
If this is the case your XXL has an incompatible bootloader and requires updating. This will be the case even if you updated it via tomtom HOME. Back up your map, voices and zip then reformat and reinstall navcore
There is no reason to reset the remote time clock on a XXL or are you trying to hide the age of the unit. Why ? What are you aiming to do, there may be another solution
