I have an acer aspire 3690. got the swp2009 demo virus. ran spyware doctor anti virus. comp will not load past the acer aspire screen. i have the 6 recovery discs that were made with the original purchase. can't get them to load either

You might have some viruses and malware..

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below.

Download, Install and Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

When Installing choose the non-pro version.

If you want good internet security use , Kaspershy, norton and McFee in that order of preference but only one of them

Thanks for the git back: #1 I hooked up a second monitor (depressed fn+f5) and was able to view everything fine. No problem in any area. Ran Some security checks (malwarebytes,checked windows updates,Secunia PSI,and a virus scan. #2 I opened up the monitor and checked for possible loose connections. #3 brought up the graphics display and checked that 60 hrz was set and correct. #4 ran a backup of all my data from my other monitor,and I made the assumption that it was a bad monitor and I might save some money if I just bought a new laptop.Would like to here your comments. you can download avast virus scanner its free.

or if you want to restore to factory settings turn the laptop on and hold F11

Or if you have system discs then just insert this and turn the laptop back on and it will boot from them.

When you try to send or download, look at the bottom tool bar. It is blocking because of your virus protection. Just right-click on that bar and click "allow"..

you can try to boot up in safe mode, F8 when you turn it on (try to save your personal files to USB Drive)
Most likely, you will have to reload/restore your Operating system...

try to install luanch manager. you can download it from acer website.

download spyware doctor or trojan remover....
it will be more then good
no specific anti virus would be as effective as the above mentioned
so u need to use a combination of anti virus and spyware remover
