I recently figured out how to hook up my MPC2000xl to my Korg M1 keyboard but couldn't figure out how to record from the M1 into my mpc2000xl.
After giving up on the idea and dismantling the midi connections I continued creating my song on the mpc. But each time it would try to save it would always prompt me to save the song as a.mid file. This is driving me crazy as can't figure out how to get it out of that mode and make it save the normal way...Please help
Hi,
Not sure if this basic instruction is what you are looking for or not, as I'm not sure how long you've been using the Akai Sampler. So forgive me if this is too basic and you're having a real problem other than one that assumes you are fairly new to the unit. Here goes:
To change the file format (or type of save) the MPC will perform a save in, you need to access the Save Screen:
Hold SHIFT and press LOAD (3 on the numeric keypad) to enter the Disk mode. Press SAVE [F2] to display the save screen. You then need to select the Type: - if it is only saving midi then the type will be "Save a Sequence" on this screen. You can change it to "Save All Sequences & Songs" if that is what you are referring to as 'the normal way'.
Hope this helps.
