It's quite possible the breaking thread is due to misthreading. AVOID using old or bargain bin thread!
Remove all the thread from the machine. Make sure you are using a brand new needle. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Set the top tension to the midway point.
Make sure the bobbin is wound uniformly and that no threads are sticking out beyond the bobbin. Thread the bobbin in the bobbin case and install it back into the machine. (Note: most machines, the bobbin will turn clockwise in the bobbin case when you pull on the thread tail.)
How to thread Janome 3300 sewing machine Ugh, something weird is happening with Fixya. It first link shows a video for threading a serger, when the actual link is for threading a Janome sewing machine...
go google and type in-- operators manual for janome 2008 sewing machine --- down load a site that has a pdf version and it will have all the information that you will need
Most of the time, you will sew a seam and then do a few stitches after pressing the Reverse button. Leave the presser foot down and press the button with the scissor icon. (That's the top-most button in the row that curves up from the needle area.) The LED will blink. If the thread cutter LED blinks when you turn on the sewing machine, press the button again. The machine will remember if the thread cutter was in use when the power went off. For some thick threads, the auto-thread cutter will not work. Instead you'll need to lift the presser foot and bring the item up to the thread cutter on the side of the sewing machine. It's towards the back of the side of the sewing machine near the needle.
You can even program in the thread cutter in memorized sewing pattern by selecting pattern 48 and pressing the M button after all the other stitches for the pattern are added to the program.
Do remember to clean the thread cutter regularly. Lint or thread buildup will interfere with the mechanism. The cleaning steps are on page 61 of the manual.
