Dishwasher fills up with water but will not spray, when I hit cancel or stop it will drain water out. You can here the humming from below then a click in the panel when the sprayers or pump is to kick in.
The most common solution to your problem is replacing a failed main wash motor/pump.
Without the model number, I can't point you to the correct model number.
Be aware that replacing a wash motor is not a trivial task and most households hire a service tech to do the job.
Good Luck!

Have you tried tighten the spray arms? They may have come lose at the fittings so need to be tightened up. You can normally tighten them with your hand. Take any traps/filters out of the dishwasher and clean them. You may find answers here: https://www.maytag.com
Sounds like an internal timer malfunction.
Maytag Customer Service: 1 (800) 344-1274 U.S. Try to find your model # and serial number if not out of warranty before called. It sounds as if your machine needs to be inspected by a service repair agent in your area. Maytag can lead you to an authorized local repair man.
Your problem is: You have a maytag quiet series 300. When it is done with any of the cycles in leaves about 1-2 inches of water in the bottom of the dishwasher. You can manually hit the start button twice and it will go through a 2 minute cycle and pump out the water. You have cleaned the filter inside the dishwasher where it drains and have checked the hose to the disposal and it pumps out fine. It just doen't pump itself at the end of the cycle.
It sounds like a bad control board. It's in the top of the door panel. I don't recomend this repair to the average homeowner. You might consider the Repair Directory to find a repairman.

reach inside your d/w and jiggle the mushroom shaped float switch located on floor of d/w. should move freely up and down if its stuck up(or something lodged under it your unit wont fill with water
It sound like a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher.
The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher.
Check if pump spins when it should force the water up into the sprayer arms.
In case it doesn't spin you should replace the pump.
Good luck !
