For 4 weeks, my Insignia TV was playing great. Then the screen turned black. When I tried to turn it back on again, the blue light came on, but the screen is, still, black. When I pressed the remote again, the red light flashed 5 times but no screen
If the screen is black and you have sound then lightly press and shine a strong flashlight against the screen. If you see an image around the edge of the flashlight, an image is being 'displayed'. The problem is probably in the Inverter/CCFT or the power going to the Inverter.
marionbagget, I have the exact problem you are describing. Black screen but I can tell that the image is still being displayed with a flashlight. I checked the test points on my inverter board with a multimeter. All seemed to be consistent. i.e. the board is probably fine? What you you think? Or could it be the panel?

I have a 37-inch Insignia 1080p flat panel that I bought 12 weeks ago. The screen will go black but the sound will continue. After I turn the TV off and back on, everything is fine.
I tried the flashlight procedure but there was no image around the edge.
I went to turn my television on and the blue light comes on for a second and the TV tries to come but it goes back to the black screen and the red light is on.
