TV was playing, then the screen turned black.

Return it if it's only a few weeks old for a different set.

Change input device to some other which you know works for sure. If problem persists, try changing the channel. If you notice same problem, this may need attention by a qualified service technician.

I think your insignia is set for SHOP mode instead of HOME mode. I changed mine to HOME and it's working fine now. Press your menu button and then scroll down to setup. You're looking for Plug and PLay which should be the very first choice. If it's greyed out as mine was you'll have to change your imput from HDMI to TV in order to get to the P&P. Once you're in the Plug and Play your first choice is language. The second should be SHOP or HOME. Make sure to select HOME. You can skip scanning for channels. This fixed my problem with the blue light. The store uses SHOP so if someone plays around and changes something, all they have to do is shut off the TV and turn it back on. have same problem 2 months out of warrenty - picture ok for about 20 mins then goes out restart will pic back but will again go out!!!

Generally, problems like this require repairs to resolve. You may carry the TV in to the place of purchase to pursue service options.

If a problem like this should develop within the retailer's return period, it is recommended that the TV be returned for an exchange.

This television is having trouble with sync circuits. It probably has some component adding erratic noise voltage to the circuit causing the instability in the sync lock circuits. The solution is to locate the bad component with an oscilloscope by following the signal path with oscilloscope probe until you find the irregular signal and then replace the part. This part could be either capacitors or ringing resistors.It may also be a component in you solid state signal processor. You should have it tested in a service center and see if they can locate the bad components. Then see if it worth replacing with the cost of parts and labor. Hope this helps you with your problem.

I am happy to help, we need to check the backlight inverter.

1. Turn tv on and get to a point that you have audio.
2. Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen.
3. Look very closely at the screen for a very dark video image.

If you see an image you have a bad inverter, you should be able to replace it yourself. I can walk you through in chat. Let me know your findings. Lone99star

Set your TV input to match the input your have your Insigna connected to. Then run the Insignia setup. You are getting a distorted screen because you probably have the Insignia connected to channel 3 and the TV on channel 4.
