Dishwasher does not circulate water

I am working on my neighbors dishwasher and it will fill with water and pump the water out, but it will not circulate the water inside the dishwasher. I suspect something in the circulation pump system. Do you have a list of the usual suspects?

I have a year old kitchen aid dishwasher and during fill cycle it makes a thumping noise. The dishwasher every 5 or 10 seconds shuts off fill cycle then turns back on which I think is what's causing...

Drain Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.

Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller

The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Circulation and Drain Pump Motor

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the motor sound, it's likely that the circulation and drain pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the motor will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

Miele dishwasher model G858 water will not circulate and the intake / drain code flashing? Does anyone know what needs to be replaced?

when you start a cycle, your machine should drain for 30 sec, fill with water, and then the circulation pump should come on. your water level should be up to the handle on the filter in the bottom. if you drain, and fill to the handle and then the intake drain error comes on, your circulation pump is stuck. if it does not fill to the handle, you may have a problem with the inlet valve.

What does it mean when F 14 is displayed in the window?

F14 - "level/pressure switch failure." The level switch monitors the dishwasher's water pressure, as it circulates, which is especially critical, during the heating cycle (main wash). Level switch failure can commonly happen from poor circulation, or from the defective level switch, itself. The most common reason for poor circulation is low water fill level. In other words, during the water intake cycle, insufficient water came into the dishwasher. Observe if enough water did come into the dishwasher, Check the water level, by using the filter's handle (located on the floor, of the inside of the dishwasher) as a reference point. At the end of the water fill stage, the water level should be just underneath the filter's handle. If the water level is more than half an inch, below the filter's handle... then that could be a problem. The sympton would be a noisy, sluggish, whooshing sound of water, during circulation - It wouldn't be the same old quiet Miele dishwasher you knew.

If you have the low water fill problem, then look at the dishwasher's water intake hose. Miele call this their Waterproof System hose (WPS). It's a water hose with an integrated electric valve. First, shut your water valve that connects to this WPS; disconnect the WPS from your valve; look inside the end of the WPS. With a needle nose plier, remove the rubber seal, filter and the water restrictor; clean them of any possible debris; put all the parts back into the WPS, securely; reconnect the hose; open your water valve; and test the dishwasher. If the problem persists, then the WPS will need to be replaced (WPS~$170).

Other causes for F14, can be weak circulation from foreign item(s) (plastic wrapping, broken glass, etc,...) lodged inside circulation pump impeller, or no circulation, at all (circulation pump stuck). Of couse, the defective level switch, itself, can cause the F14, too. The least common causes for the F14 can be broken wires to and from, level switch and electronic unit, and a defective electronic unit.

I have beko dishwasher works fine but no hot water is it just the element which needs replacing or could it another problem MODEL DWD4310S

How far is your water heater from your dishwasher. I knew someone who had to get a circulating pump. His dishwasher was so far form the water heater so when the dishwasher would fill, it used the cold water that is sitting in the pipes and by the time the hot water got there, the dishwasher didn't need any more water. the pump will keep the water circulating back and forth to and from the hto water heater. Or you an get one of those electric small heaters that heat on the spot as well.

DU1145XTPB (2 yrs old). No water in, probably inlet valve? Added water manually, no circulation. Loud hum - possible seized pump?

OK, the no water situation can be caused by a faulty water valve assembly in this case and, the circulation pump may have a jammed wash impeller that is preventing proper rotation. extract the circulation motor and, inspect the wash impeller for damaged.

Just to clarify the no water issue. Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem will be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

Miele intake/drain flashes, no drain

this can happen after inactivity. the circulation pump seal sticks and wont turn . when the dishwasher starts to fill the circulation pump is pulsed on to see if the preasure switch switches over (to see if water is getting into the dishwasher) if the pump does not turn there is no preasure and the machine stops thinking no water has entered. turn pump by hand to cure.

Dishwasherwont wash

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher. The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher. Check if motor spins. In case it spins, the problem is with the pump ,in case it doesn't spin it could be a motor problem or a motor and pump problem. Good luck
