We had the same thing happen. Call Leap tech support they will replace. Their tech support is not great and not in on the weekends. But they will replace it.

We did. The issue we had with the Leap Pad was the power. I would not stay charged or was draining batteries or the chargeable ones fast.
thanks, one last question, did they re-load the apps for you or did you have to pay for them again?

I eventally heard back from Leapfrog, to reset the LeapPad2, you need to puch the power button, home button, up volume, and right control button at the same time, not easy to do, but it works.
