SOURCE: I cant communicate with belkin wireless g router

It sounds like you don't have the units connected properly. Make sure you have a cable(wired) from your ethernet card on your pc connected to a wired port on the router. Then plug your router from its yellow port into the modem. Make sure your modem is connected to its Internet interface. Plug in your modem and wait 60 seconds for it to power up. Then power up the router.
At this point you should be able to access the router with the supplied installation CD. Run the setup assistant and it will define your wireless network. When you are through you should have internet access through the wired network. When you are finished you should be able to use the wireless network assuming you have the card installed correctly and the software for the card correctly installed.

SOURCE: Trying to set up a vpn server on windows XP using

Did you already forward port 1723? I guess you have done that. To isolate it, try to bypass the router and setup or establish the VPN session there. If it doesn't work, maybe your ISP doesn't allow port 1723 or it's just the modem.

How can I make settings to support DHCP IP assignments and also recognize my manual IP's assigned to the LAN connected devices?

The easiest way I can think of is to shrink the DHCP address pool.

To do that, at least on the model of Actiontec router I have, click on "Network (Home/Office)" the go to the "IP Address Distribution" section of the screen. "DHCP Server" should already be selected, and under that, you'll find "Start IP addresses" and "End IP addresses." Usually, the start will be 192.168.1.2 and the end will be 192.168.1.254. What I usually do is change the start address to 192.168.1.200. That leaves over 50 addresses for normal wireless connections, and I'll general assign IP addresses from the rest of the range as follows:
192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.9: routers, APs, etc.
192.168.1.50 to 192.168.1.59: printers
192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.109 for other static devices. (I often find that Blu-Ray players, cable boxes, etc. behave better if they have a static address.)

But really, on home network, I doubt you'll have more than 15 devices that need static addresses, so you could set the DHCP start address as low as 192.168.1.16 if you wanted to.

Actiontec GT704WGB from Verizon is working through Earthlink yet Verizon still thinks it is providing service and want to set up my "account"

Sounds like you have Verizon software on your computer. The router has nothing to do with that. Go into control panel > add remove programs and remove the Verizon software.

How can I disable my actiontect GT704WGR wireless setting? Verizon personnel has enable the wireless setting of my modem actionteck GT704WGR 2 days ago. Now I would like to disable it because I will use...

you can login to the Actiontec modem by typing the ip address of actiontec modem in the address bar of Internet explorer...
It will open the interface of actiontec modem...
In the Interface of actiontec modem you will have option for wireless...
If you look under wireless setting you will be having the wireless mode as 802.11b/g/n or just B/G/N....

Change this wireless mode to OFF...
Thats it you are done...

By default the ip address of action tec is 192.168.0.1

Hi I want to know on how to setup the verizon Modem/Router I already have a Westell 6100G and i want to upgrade to the new one called Verizon Wireless modem/router model:GT704WG.

Are you on Consumer Verizon DSL? Fair warning if you are using Business Static- the Actiontec is a poor choice due to issues working on a static IP circuit. - I'd use a 6110 and a third party router! However, by default, the only thing you would need to do to setup the modem is go through the activation page when you plug the modem in. If you require an user name and password, it would set that up. Bar any problems, you can contact Verizon technical support since the Actiontec Gateway is fully supported.

NO PSN with Actiontec GT704WG Verizon

If you can access the internet it is not a problem with the router. Are you able to access the PSN site but rejected when you enter your credentials?

Nonexistant customer service by Actiontec

After my second call to Actiontec ended with the help desh hanging up on me, Actiontec did respond to an emailed plea for help and prompty provided a complex script which they labeled confidential to address this problem. The bottom line seems to be Verizon either installed hardware that is incompatable with an Exchange server or they did not configure the insallation correctly. In so many words, Actiontec feels it is a Verizon problem. I wish me luck in getting to the right place to deal with that, even though I am a Verizon stockholder.

Dropping wireless connection

The problem may not be with your router. I had a situation a year ago with the modem dropping the signal everyday. I spent hours on the phone with verizon tech support to no avail. They sent someone out to my home and he put a filter on the main line coming into the house which didn't resolve the issue. Then verizon insisted the modem was bad so they sent me an actiontec. Turns out that the problem had nothing to do with me. They try to squeeze as much bandwith at their switching stations as they can. They switched me over to another hub and viola no more problem.
