I have a memory craft 4800 and was sewing today and it has an error 1 in the screen. i can shut off the machine but when i start to sew again or use the handwheel to move the needle down and catch the bobbin thread it shows an error 1 again on the screen

Just like so many tvs do. The power control board is overheating. If you know someone who is a tinkerer you could probably get a power board on ebay pretty cheap. Just takes a model# & brand name Hope this helps
