One or the output channels is probably bad you can check for a short on the output transistors using an ohm meter. Make sure that the receiver is un-pluged. The ouput transistors will be on a large heat sink.

I have a Denon AVR 3310CI everything appears to work HDMI inputs recognizes speakers but zero sound ???

If you have verified that the Denon AVR 3310CI is properly configured and connected to the speakers but are still unable to hear anything, you can try the following troubleshooting procedures:
Examine the HDMI cables: Check to see that the HDMI cables are securely connected to the HDMI output port on your source device and the HDMI input ports on the receiver's back. To see if that resolves the issue, try substituting new HDMI cables.
The microprocessor must be reset: The functions of the Denon AVR 3310CI are controlled by a microprocessor. Try powering the receiver back on while simultaneously holding down the "Power" and "Speaker A" buttons to reset the microprocessor.
Check the settings for the sound: Check that the sound settings on the receiver are set up correctly. To ensure that the settings are optimized for your particular setup, check the model's manual.
Aktualize the firmware: Check to see if the Denon AVR 3310CI's firmware can be updated. For additional information on how to update the firmware, you can visit the Denon website or get in touch with their customer support.
Use a different source to test: To determine whether the issue is with the receiver or the original source device, test it with a different source device.

Reset factory settings of my Denon avr 2800

From Denon support:
To reboot, turn receiver off using the small on/off button, not the big standby button. While off press the night and pure direct button at the same time and keep holding them with your right hand while pressing the small on/off button with your left. You will see your receiver menu flash. When you see it flash let go of the night and pure direct button and the receiver will reset it self to the radio station 87.50. The receiver's microprocessor has now been set back to factory default.

Denon AVR-1912 firmware upgrade failed

I'm having the same problem, Denon has taken down the firmware upgrade for yours ( and mine) AVR-1912. My receiver is also stuck in the update fail loop. Supposedly they will have it back up, but I don't know the timeframe.

Lots of others are having the problem with the firmware upgrade. Go to
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1334369/the-official-denon-avr-xx12-model-owners-thread/16380

and that should help you out, though I can't say how much. I've gone as far as resetting the microprocessor, but it keeps trying to update, and then fails...

Resetting the Microprocessor

Perform this procedure if the display is abnormal or if operations cannot be performed.

When the microprocessor is reset, all the settings are reset to their default values.

1 Turn off the power using <POWER>.

2 Press <POWER> while simultaneously pressing
<STANDARD> and <DSP SIMULATION>.
3 Once the display starts flashing at intervals of about 1
second, release the two buttons.

How do I reset my Denon avr-589? I would like to reset my reciever back to original settings.

Press the power button, and speaker a and speaker b simultaneously and hold until the display begins to flash then release speaker A and speaker B buttons. That resets the microprocessor.

My denon reciever display wont't work

I read something the other day in the user manual about re-setting the microprocessors if the display doesn't display properly. Turn the amp off.  Hold down the input mode & analog buttons while turning power on. The whole display should flash on & off at 1 sec intervals, then release the two buttons. This resets the microprocessors & supposedly fixes display problems.

My Denon AVR-887 Keeps turning itself off

I have one and the same thing happened. try resetting your microprocessor and if that does not work, then check the wiring of the speakers. if that is working fine and no wires are touching then I unplugged everything and was still having the issue. took it in for service and it was found that the transmitor was shorted as the speakers that I was using was too high in ohms. it is possible that it could be your caps also if resetting the microprocessor does not help. You can find out how to reset the microprocessor from your manual. If you have the Denon avr 887 with the system turned off hold the power on button and the speaker A and B at the same time for a few seconds. This is compatible to rebooting your computer. Hope this works for you as this was and is my husbands favorite past times.
