How do I determine the year my GE model TFX24R was made?

Print How to Determine the Age or Manufacture Date of a GE Appliance

The manufacturing date and year is coded into the serial number of the appliance. Our serial numbers begin with two letters. The first letter identifies the month and the second letter identifies the year. The corresponding letters, months, and years are below. For example, if the serial number begins with the letters "FJ," the appliance was made in March of 1952.

Letter Month (first letter) Years (second letter) A January 2001, 1989, 1977, 1944 B -- 1945 C -- 1946 D February 2002, 1990, 1978, 1947 E -- 1969, 1948 F March 2003, 1991, 1979, 1949 G April 2004, 1992, 1980, 1950 H May 2005, 1993, 1981, 1951 J -- 1952 K -- 1953 L June 2006, 1994, 1982, 1970, 1954 M July 2007, 1995, 1983, 1971, 1955 N -- 1972, 1956 P -- 1973, 1957 R August 2008, 1996, 1984, 1958 S September 2009, 1997, 1985, 1959 T October 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1960 V November 1999, 1987, 1975 Z December 2000, 1988, 1976 AY -- 1965 BZ -- 1966 CA -- 1967 DB -- 1968 VU -- 1961 WV -- 1962 XW -- 1963 YX -- 1964

Gr Side-by-side refrigerator freezer makes noise when door close

It is possible that the hinges of your freezer has moved and shifted the alignment. So first of all use a WD40 cleaner to spray into the hinges and the areas around it. Now move the hinges violently for some time and check if has lessened. If so repeat the spraying. See if here is dirt accumulated along the hinges if the door is not moving parallel just push the end up a little . You must be able to get the hinge to shut properly by this correction. Hope you try . Good day

I have an older side by GE refrigerator model # TFX24R. The freezer is fine, but the fridge isn't getting too cold. Any suggestions??

You may have ice formed in the passage between the freezer and the refrigerator. You have to remove the plastic panel in refrigerator side. (pull temp control knob straight off, then tilt plastic panel forward from bottom. Should come off with a little wiggling). Next remove one screw just above where the temp knob attached. this will allow the left half of the assembly to pull toward you. It will want to stick to the right side of the assembly (were the light buld is) so just gently encourage it to come out. Once out you will have a very simple device in you hand made of foam and plastic. rinse under warm water and get all the ice out of it. Dry it and put back in. replace parts in reverse order.

See if that helps!

The light bulb burned out. I do not know what type and and wattage of the bulb to replace it.It is the refrigerator light bulb in GE TFX24R refrigerator. Thank you my email is [email protected]

According to GE this uses a 40 Watt appliance bulb. You should be able to get one from any department or home improvement store.
