I have a c2002 porter cable 6 gallon, 150 psi air compressor that is not putting out any air. The outlet regulator valve stays on zero. The tank pressure works fine. It cuts off at properly when the tank pressure reaches the factory set cut out pressure. I've tried turning the pressure regulator knob clockwise to increase the out pressure gauge, but still reads zero. What is wrong with my compressor?

Nothing
it is the regulator that is faulty

SOURCE: I have a model FP209501 Air Compressor 2 Gallon,

The spray gun consumes more air volume than the compressor can deliver. You can pause painting periodically to allow the compressor to 'catch-up' or buy a larger delivered-volume compressor. The compressor that you have was intended to supply air for pneumatic nailers and staplers in an intermittent fashion. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Tank pressure reaches setting but outlet pressure is not releasing air

if you have a air nozzle I would plug that in and see if you can get air out of that if no then you may have to adjust the hose/line pressure or you may have something inside that isn't allowing the air to come out of the tank in that case drain the tank and use either a small rod or peice of wire to poke through the outlet and clear it

Your comperssor is oilless type and suffers from short cylinder / piston life. When the compressor no longer reaches cycle pressure the cylinder / piston should be replaced. These parts are available at www.chpower.com I believe that the part number is wl210300aj. Not expensive, enjoy.

SOURCE: 25 gallon air compressor wont shut off, changed air regulator

You have a valve plate problem . It could be a slipped "o" ring to a bad reed valve. There are rebuild kits for that purpose. The kits include a valve plate assembly. It covers all the bases. When you look at this area pay attention to the partitions of the head gasket/"o"ring. You may avoid the cost of the kit.

It is generally above the air outlet where the hose connects?

Porter Cable 150 psi 6 gal compressor tank builds up to 150 psi but 'regulated air' stays at zero and, of course, no air out. Thanks

The attached link provides a work around,
There are repair kits available. Dissemble and make sure that you document the assembly for reassembly. Common problem.

Hope this helps.

My check valve hose gets very hot, I saw a question, what is meant by regulated pressure?

  1. The regulated pressure is at the output of the pressure regulator i/e the air pressure being delivered to the air tool or spray gun.
  2. This can be set from just a few PSI up to about 180 PSI (on my Porter Cable unit).

My Porter Cable pancake outlet regulator doesn't seem to work.

If your quick coupler is not jammed up, (remove & test) and assuming you are pulling the regulator knob out to adjust the pressure and it is not stripped, you will need a new manifold kit.
There are about 6 versions of this unit so you will need model and type to get the correct part. There are no individual regulator parts available for this unit.

I have a porter cable 6 gallon compressor. The motor used to cut out at 150 psi, but now it cuts out at 135. Is this a faulty tank pressure gauge misreading the pressure or a motor cutting out too early

it could be your air pressure adjustment knob, where your air line hooks up, which controls the psi to a lower or highist seting to adjust for different tools and uses.

Zero outlet pressure Porter Cable C2002 type 3

The collar tends to break off of the plastic tip and falls inside the spring. I just repaired mine by epoxying the tip to a modified closet-maid wire shelf clip and stacking (3) #78 o-rings on the tip. The clip mod was a tap with a 1/4" chisel to remove the shelf hook, leaving just the "square" screw receiver. As it happened, the screw recess was the same size as the tip. Put a little epoxy into the screw recess, press the tip into it, clean any excess and let it set for an hour. Slip on the o-rings, align all the parts, thread the regulator cover back into place. O-rings are in the plumbing section at Home Depot, epoxy usually near the paints, clips near the wire shelving. Best wishes.

Porter cable the compressor regulator is always at 0, the tank is at 150psi but no air at the outlets

Always at zero, like the regulator is broken?

I would assume that you never set it to whatever
pressure you want to use
