Rechargeable batteries fail after a maximum number of deep-cycles. Letting the battery drain completely before recharging, will shorten it's lifespan compared to keeping it topped up frequently.
Replacement batteries can be found on Ebay and elsewhere.

The LED may have just gone bad. Keep using it untill the battery dies, then try charging it and use it again. If it works as it should it means the LED died and there is nothing to worry about, if not you may need to replace the battery.
Well if it holds no charge you will most likely have to replace it as it is the battery inside the bluetooth headset in otherwords the battery is buggered lol. do you still have the headset and the charging cradle?
