Toshiba 22LV505 TV/DVD combo adding speakers with receiver?

I bought a Toshiba 22LV505 combo for a work out room at home. The volume is not loud enough when using equipment so I wanted to add additional speakers. I have a Sherwood RX-4105 receiver with two Bose speakers plus a Sony CD player and wanted to use that system for additional sound. I can not get my Toshiba to work with the Sherwood receiver. The Toshiba has a digital audio out but the receiver does not have a digital audio in. What can I do to make this work?

Maybe you can find the manual for it. The manual should tell you how to change the TV to video. But there is probably a labeled button called video on the front/side/back of the TV that switches it. Unless that is a function that is now on the remote.

SOURCE: Volume Problem with my TV and Home Theater system

I had the same problem with mine. The solution I found was to use an optical audio cable rather than the red and white RCA audio jacks. Hope this helped.

TV section and DVD section have individual codes to setup. If you wish to get more setup codes, three digits, four digits or five digit ones, check this link. Pull up older posts. Setup code list and setup instructions to some popular model remote controls are given.

I have a coby CSP96 speaker system. it said on the manual online that i found on the cobyusa.com site that there should be a volume control on top of the sub-woofer but there isn't one there. i can only...

I am having the same problem. I also have the combo dvd and theater system. I also read that the sub woofer is supposed to have a volume control on it but its not there. The only way to control volume is to connect to coby dvd player. This dvd player is beyond terrible. DVD looks bad and sound is miserable. I hooked up xbox 360 to my samsung 52 inch, then on the outputs of my tv into the inputs of the "TV" section on the Coby Sub woofer. At this point great sound quality comes from the xbox and all speakers, but the volume is uncontrollable and is blasting loud. Tv volume control does not work either. I am stuck like chuck and have not found a solution. This has to be one of the worse purchased i have ever made because i am forced to use a terrible DVD player just to get some sound through the speakers. I dont understand why on the speaker systems you buy without dvd combo has a volume control on subwoofer, but on the combo subwoofer doesnt have it. Just terrible. I will continue to look online and try and find a solution other than smash it to bits.

Toshiba 22LV505 TV-DVD:

Check the DC filter caps in the power supply first. Check the 24vdc (or 18vdc for this 22" model) to see if it goes away when the screen goes black.
There are main AC fuse, backlight inverter fuses, T-CON fuses.

Speakers way too loud

You don't say how the Samsung routes out to the receiver. I assume you're using its RCA audio L and R jacks. Inability to adequately lower volume usually means you're NOT using a Line Level input, but maybe a speaker feed.

Your TV may have a setting for variable audio out, but even if you use the fixed setting you should be able to lower the playback volume to something comfortable with the receiver's volume knob. It does go down to completely OFF, right?

I just bought a RCA rtd3131 home theater system. My husband trashed the manual and i can't get all the speakers to work when the cable is on. When the DVD is on all the speakers work but the sound is not...

If the cable tv has audio out jacks, or if you have a cable box with an optical audio cable, plug either the audio jacks into the RCA system or the optical audio cable, and the system should automatically simulate 5.1, through Dolby Pro Logic II. All speakers will not be at the same volume as they are simulating surround sound, not just playing the audio.

The TV will never have sound for the DVD as this system has no audio out puts. Realistically, most televisions have 10w speakers, and this system is 130w, so the TV speakers are useless in comparison.

Connecting new tv to DRA-685

you can use the headphone jack just get an adaptor to change from the headphone type to RCA type. adjust the volume of the tv to 3/4 of the way to give line level to the stereo, use an aux input on the stereo. if you had a suround sound dolby digital / DTS receiver then use the digital coax out to that type of receiver, but since you have an anolog 2 channel receiver you must use the only anolog source (the headphone).
