US version Wii Fit and Australian Wii console incompatibility

I bought an Australian Wii Console at Christmas and a friend picked up the Wii Fit game for me while travelling through Singapore.
Unfortunately, unknown to them at the time (info is on the bottom of the box only), the Wii Fit is the "For use in the US only" version. When I load the disc, console displays a "disk read error".
I cannot change my TV from PAL to NTSC if that makes any difference.
I keep reading about Freeloader etc. Is there anything I can do or do I have a new boat anchor as I don't know anyone running a US Wii Console.
Any hope???

I don't think changing the TV would make any difference because the console isn't even loading up the disc. To play an NTSC game you would have to use a console from an NTSC area like the US. I'm sure Japan is NTSC as well. I've heard about Freeloader. Ever since I bought an Action Replay cartridge for my N64 I've never trusted Datel (who manufacture Freeloader). It really mucked up my N64. On the other hand I know many people who use Datel products and the like with no probs. I suppose if you got nothing to lose then try Freeloader.

Sorry I could'n t be much more help

Sorry, just a follow up to my answer. Found out that Nintendo released Wii Firmware in June 2008 to block use of Freeloader so certain games are not playable with. I'm not sure if Wii Fit is one of them though.

I would suggest tryng to get the reciept it might be difficult but rarely impossible, the store should have a record of the sale. about claming the waranty, i would suggest you to call nintendo and ask for that information, before tryng to opening or other type of change that will violate your waranty.

Have you tried inserting other game discs? like 3 types of disc. If your Wii console plays those discs and don't play with the game disc that you wanted to play, then the format of that disc is not recognized by console. Some disc formats are sometimes incompatible with the player console.

I have an Australian region Wii and live in Australia but holidaying in USA. If I get a modchip installed to make my Australian Wii region free will this affect the Wii games that I already have purchased...

It should not. In fact, your wii should be able to play any game from any region with the mod chip. However, you should ask the company that is doing the mod chip install to be sure.

Maybe the Wii Sports game only works from where it was with the console. The Zelda and the Wii Fit game, not so sure. It could be the game, possibly dusty or something. Try cleaning the disc and see what happens. Hope that helps.

Well, you can manually update it. Go to the bottom left corner. There, you should be able to clearly see what to do to update it. (I can't walk you through it, as my TV is in use currently.)

I got wii fit the disk wont work !!!!!!

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

Usa wii console will not sync wii uk wii fit

The UK Wii Fit would be the PAL version and the US Wii is the NTSC version. I don't doubt that there is something preventing then to sync seeing that they are from different territories. You will need a North American Wii Fit in order to use it with your North American Wii.
