My camera will not turn on it was working like 2 days ago. The battery charger says it is fully charged but when i put it in the camera the camera will not turn on...what do i do? and what is teh problem?
i didnt try this but i cant find my cord...i mean like nothing blinks or anything nothing works!!i didnt try this but i cant find my cord...i mean like nothing blinks or anything nothing works!!
I'm having the same issue. I've tested my camera with a 2nd battery (no fix) and tested my battery in a 2nd camera (battery worked fine).
So the problem is 100% with my camera itself. I purchased approx 20 months ago, so it's outside of Sony's warranty. They want $181 just to look at it ... I'd like to solve the problem myself if possible.I'm having the same issue. I've tested my camera with a 2nd battery (no fix) and tested my battery in a 2nd camera (battery worked fine).

Tried battery in other t10 and works fine. Tried other batteries - same result. Little red light does blink when I insert a charged battery. Tried attaching to TV - nothing. Tried attaching to computer - nothing. Tried battery in other t10 and works fine. Tried other batteries - same result. Little red light does blink when I insert a charged battery. I have the same problem -- camera just stopped turning on without cause. I have another cybershot (T5) to test batteries, cables, etc. by interchanging them. Still no life in the T10. (see my comment posted under "clarification request" regarding a bad battery -- both of my battereis are Sony infoLITHIUM, Type T, NP-FT1 for the Cyber-shot and both work in my T5, and have worked in my T10 -- it's not the battery).
If anyone has had their T10 fixed, please post what the problem was. Ritz Camera store in my location will fix the camera for $250 -- that is about half the price of a new T10. But without knowing if this failure is avoidable, it's not worth blowing $250 to have the same problem reoccur.

Having the same problem. Kept recharging the battery... also tried putting in a new one. It turned on once every 20-30 tries. Even when it did turn on it shuts itself down a few seconds later .. during this shutdown process a blurred image remained on the screen for a few seconds and then it went completely blank.
I noticed this problem started to occur when using the flash.. the camera would shut itself down right away.. maybe it's something to do with the capacitor for the flash?Having the same problem. By the way... searching through this website, it looks like it's not just a sony problem.. like most suspected, they probably just want you to go out and replace your camera every few years ..

Did more searching.. someone suggested banging the camera against a surface a few times (obviously not to the point of breaking it). I figured I'd try it since it won't turn on anyway.. guess what.. IT WORKED!!! Somehow it will knock the switch back into place..

The problem is not the battery or battery charger, it is the camera. I have both a Cyber-shot T5 and T10 and I have interchanged the batteries and memory cards without problem for about a year (since buying the T10).
Like the others, my T10 just stopped turning on when opening the shutter cover. I used it, closed the cover, put it in my suitcase, at home took it out and it wouldn't work. No dropping. Unless the magnatometer at the airport "zapped it" in some way, there was no damage. I put the T10 battery in the T5 and the T5 worked fine. I recharged both batteries, and neither one made the T10 work. So, it's not the battery, as both batteries power the T5 perfectly.
I plugged the T10 into the computer with the cord and the computer did not recognize it, with ether the shutter cover open or closed. I have tried the power button on top of the T10 as well in many situations: nothing. It's just dead. Of course, this is just over the one year warranty period. However, my T5 works ok (at least for now).
I'd like to hear possible solutions other than the battery or charger. It could be simply the shutter cover is no longer switching the camera on, but then 'd think the power button would do that. Unless the airport magnatometer zapped it's brain, it looks to be an internal power supply problem, or even just the power switch.

Don't say it is the battery or chagers problems again, Please!!! I bought a brand new battery, nothing changed. It is the camera!!! The problem comes from the camera !!!!
Check - battery voltage is 4 or more
volts , when fully charged ? only then
connect video cable to computer
( if camera is in standby , computer
will wake it up ) ;
Possible failed battery showing fully charged but actually not -or even charger. No reset]
Disconnect from the wall socket- re connect and tell us if the battery is now charging.
If show full- replace battery.

I had a similar problem with the P10 not charging via USB, I purchased
mine second hand so it came with no charger just a USB cable. I assumed it would charge
by the USB cable but it did not, the red light flashes but doesn't
charge. Luckily I have an external battery charger for a different
camera i got some years ago that takes a similar battery , the P10
battery didn't fit properly so I had to place it at a 45 degree angle
into the charger making sure the outer contacts were lined up properly
and taped it into place. After an hour it was fully charged and the
camera is working fine. The charger is a 4.2 volt charger. New external
chargers can be picked up on ebay cheaply
Well you mentioned that it worked fine yesterday with the battery out of the box. That should tell you that the camera and the battery are both fine. The issue is likely the charger itself. Try recharging it again, and double check that you inserted the batteries correctly, and that any switches (such as for 2 or 4 battery charge) are set in the correct position on the charger. If this doesn't work, take the charger back to the store for exchange/refund as defective.
Please make sure that the battery is clean and also the terminals within are clean. If you had been using the camera prior to the charging then the camera must work unless if the battery was spoiled by wrong charging. If you can use a multimeter to check the voltage which must be as specified on the battery label. Now make sure that the battery gets good contacts into the camera when inserted. If this wont work then it possible that there are errors within the camera and you need help from the nearest Nikon center.click the link below

with new batterys you may find if quicker to charge them in a battery charger and not in the camera,,,the camera charger is for "topping up" the batterys realy not fully recharging them its so you can leave the camera on its docking port and it will have fully charged batterys in it when you wont to use it,, to fully charge a new set of batterys it could take days,,,,so overnight is to short a charge to recharge them,,,leave the camera on its docking station for a fuw days at least, or use a home charger for your type of battery ie:AAA or AA, both take 16 hours to recharg fully
I didn't have the time to find out what was the problem cause i needed the camera immediately so i bought a new battery and a new charger. Thanks for the help!!
hiak, I had the same problem with my camera. Try opening the battery cover and pressing down onthe battery while turning on the camera. If the camera turns on you have a poor conection between the battery and the camera.I folded a small piece of paper and put on top of the battery then closed the cover. Its worked like new since.
The camera was working fine 5 days ago. Yesterday when I tried to switch it on, I assumed that the battery was flat so I charged it but when fully charged the camera still won't switch on. i Please help!
I would let them charge til you get an indication that they are done. TV remotes require very little power to operate, while digital cameras need a lot, so that's why the batteries would work in the remotes though not fully charged.
