Taking the machine back to hancock fabrics is a good idea
and let them show you how to do the bobbin
I took my Janome back to Hancock Fabrics and they were great about answering questions. I learned some interesting little differences about Janome Sewing Machine Bobbins. 1.When placing the bobbin into the bobbin keeper, the thread end must be away from you. 2. When threading the bobbin thread through the keeper the thread must snap in place in the bobbin keeper for the bobbin cannot hold it's tension. 3. When the keeper is placed into the machine it also then has a little snap when it is seated properly. Now I am enjoying sewing again. Good Luck!

I will quit being lazy and find my manuel today...... i thought I could save time and look online. No such luck. If you have an email address I will send of fax or mail to you. I feel bad for everyone looking for it. So I will check in a few days to see if you still need it.

SOURCE: bobbin thread bunching
I agree with brodering about the damage to your bobbin case, it should be smooth all over, as the thread travels across the top surface to form a stitch, and the small step on the underside locates it as the hook spins underneath.
Needle strikes often compromise the surface, as will the hook colliding with the under surface... and although it is possible to gently polish off the damage with fine grain wet & dry (black) sand paper (emery paper) there are limits to the success depending on the degree of damage.
While on the subject, ensure the bobbin case and hook race beneath are clean and free of lint or thread.

Hopefully this is only a mechanical problem that can be fixed with oil. If not it is either a stepper motor or circuit board. If you are not comfortable with removing covers and oiling then it needs to go to the shop.
Good luck!
SOURCE: SIMILAR PROBLEM OF TOP THREAD ACCUMULATING IN BOBBIN AREA
it sounds like a needle threading problem. if you have the instruction book, pull yout needle thread off the machine and re-thread as per the book ie presser foot up and make sure thread goes betwen tension discs and up over takeup lever.
to check needle tension is ok, lower presser foot and pull needle thread through needle, the needle thread should be tight enough to bend the needle a little.
goodluck,
scott.

Hi, Liz. When you adjust your tension, be sure the pressure foot is down. The pressure foot needs to be up when you thread the machine so the thread will slip easily between the tension disks, but when you adjust the tension the disks have to be tight (pressure foot down).
There are other possibilities, but this is the best place to start running the problem down. Please let me know if this does the trick, ok, and if not, we can try something ele.
Happy Sewing

I took my Janome back to Hancocks with questions and I learned so much. 1. The bobbin loads specifically The bobbin loads into the bobbin keeper with the thread end away from you. 2. When you put the bobbin into the keep make sure you hear the thread snap into the keeper. It it does not snap the bobbin in unable to keep it's tension. Hope this helps.
