Sounds like a programme is launched when you start. Can you quit it (Command and Q)? If so, open System Preferences (Apple menu), open Users & Groups and look in Login Items if you find the culprit... Hope it works out!

There is a rubber grommet on the left top of the projection screen, insert the supplied Allen key and turn anticlockwise and adjust turn by turn till the screen rolls out with just 2 to 3" of the black border shows on the top

Rear project TV problem

yes it can be fixed depending on your model number if its the VS50605 they have a kit to repair the PIP module which controls vertical sync (Rolling) or you can bypass the module to correct it but you would lose the PIP function. Let me know if you need more info.
