Adding a smart tv just requires adding an ethernet cable to your internet connection to the ethernet port on the set. The smart services on the set us a broadband internet connection to work.
Smart TV has a HOME button. I'm pretty sure there is Netflix at the Home Page. From there you can log into your account. No need to stream it through your iPad or iMac.
Does your Toshiba have a wireless adapter? If so, you can set up a home network, if you don't already have one. If no,Does the iMac have a VGA or HDMI connector? You can connect via a adapter cable, Vga to HDMI or a HDMI cable, depending on the iMac connections.
There's an adapter that monoprice.com just brought out that I purchased.
Works like a charm. It still plugs into the mini display port but it
also has a usb connector that you must plug into one of your usb ports
on your imac. This allows for the audio to travel over the hdmi with the
video. The link is below.
Be aware that once you add the TV as a second screen that it extends
your desktop typically to the right of your current one. Just drag an
open window to the right and it appears on your TV. The resolution of
the TV is probably lower than the mac screen so the extension is a
different size. You can move the extension around to the
top/bottom/left/right etc.
You can see this in Preferences - displays - arrangement, After you have added your second screen.
If you don't want to extend the desktop but would rather mirror your primary display, this is where you check "mirror displays"
Hello,
The S.M.A.R.T. status is used to communicate information about a Hard Disk Drive.
Since your product is a DVD drive, it not does send S.M.A.R.T. information so MAC list it as "Not Supported" for that feature.
It is normal with a DVD drive and you have nothing to worry about.
Regards,
The best option here is to use your TV as a secondary monitor for your iMac. Doing so would require the correct type of connector in your case a mini-DVI to HDMI connector. Once it is connected, you have three options - you can have it mirror what's going on on your iMac's display, have it act as extra monitor 'real estate' - that is to say extra space that you can drag windows onto and so on - or you can have the TV act as your primary monitor. All of these options can be changed when your TV is connected through Apple menu > System Preferences > Display > Arrangement.
You don't really need to worry about the DVD player on the TV as the Mac OS has a DVD player application built into it. You can use it or the TV's DVD player, it's really up to you.
As for connecting both of them to the same speaker system, you should be able to purchase a connector that will go from the audio out port of your TV to the audio in on the back of your iMac. You would then be able to select the TV's output in Apple menu > system preferences > sound > input.
pretend that the tv is an additional screen from your computer directly connected to the left of your computer screen. open something and drag it to the left and it should transfer onto the tv. HOW DO YOU GET SOUND
