Sounds like the motherboard on the TV has failed. Would recommend replacing the TV or taking it to a TV repair shop which may cost more than just replacing it.

SOURCE: loud buzzing noise when turning on

It sounds like a bad internal connection or a component failing. If the picture still is very good take it to a known good repair shop.

The tv usually turns on but now it won't. When it does turn on it makes a noise like a motor boat sound. The noise stays on until you shut the tv off. I'm not sure what it is I think it's the fan but

I would say that if there is a fan inside of it and it sounds like a fan bearing going bad then that is what it is. The reason for it not to be turning on anymore could be because whatever that fan is cooling has failed. Not sure.

Samsung dlp tv HLP5663W makes loud noise

Yes, the set uses a color wheel and the lamp faces it.

The wheel turns at over 8,000 rpm and is well known for this problem=bearings in the tiny motor go bad.

The high pitched or fan like noise (classic description) is this part.

Sooner or later the wheel (plastic colored segments) will shatter and set will shut down lamp and not operate---set monitors the speed of the wheel so if it slows down or stops it knows.

The part is readily available on the internet (Google the model number with "color wheel").

This can be a do it yourself repair and You Tube has video instructions for replacing the wheel by model number.

There are two common pitfalls to avoid which the instructions that come with the replacement part usually do not mention---if you decide to do this repair let me know and I will explain.

TV has started to make a really loud humming noise, then sounds like a siren noise after you turn it off and now it has started to turn off by itself. Thinking maybe a fan? Worried it may cost more to have...

It could be 1 of 2 fans (fans are around $30.00 each) or more likely it is the color wheel beginning to fail. Color wheel will cost around $180.00-200.00, plus labor. I would recommend calling 1-800-samsung to find the nearest service center. Part should take an hour to an hour and a half to complete repair.

Excessive noise in my speakers

usually, it is background noise. Scratchy background noise. Gets worse the louder I turn up the volume. I ran a test on all the channels and it seemed to be the subwoofer channel. I've unpluged the subwoofer but that didn't help. I have also noticed that my receiver doesn't turn up nearly as loud as it used. I usually watch DVDs at a volume level of about 15 on my Denon and that's quite loud. But now, 15 isn't that loud at all. I went to Best Buy where I bought all of this equipment and they immediatly told me it was suge protector issue and wanted to sell me a high-end surge protector. Perhaps they are right but not sure why it began rather suddenly. Probably not helping you much.

Loud noise from Fan and compressor

i have the same problem with mine. I took the back cover off at the bottom and the fan was going. get a scredriver and barely touch the center of the fan while it is on and if it stops making the noise then it is the fan motor. The bearings are getting ready to go out and it needs to be replaced.

Loud noise when Tv comes on souns like fan.

The loud noise is the color wheel winding down when you turn the TV off. You need to replace the color wheel.

Big Screen gets loud, mad and turns off

without a model number, i can't be much help. if this is a newer dlp or similar tv, the fan is probably going out. some newer tv's have a fan that is part of the light assembly, some have a separate fan.. the loud whirring noise is usually caused by bad bearings or the blades of the fan may have become unbalanced, either way, the fan making the noise will need replacing. the color going is usually caused by the lcd or dlp overheating and/or the lamp overheating.

if the tv is out of warranty, remove the back panel, locate the fan making the noise, and search for a replacement. if you have a model number, i can check around and see if i can find the part number for you.

hope this helps,
trin
