New detergents work moderately at best, due to changes in epa clean water requirements. we've found that using a small plastic container in the top rack (approx. 1/3-1/2 cup) filled with white vinegar at start of cycle, allows a nice boost for the entire cycle. one of our sons and us as well, bought new DW's and found they cleaned kind of poorly. i found this solution online and we've both gotten better cleaning results!!

Dishwasher shoots food particles inside glasses and dries them on.

Aren't you rinsing the food off your dishes, before you put them in the dishwasher? You are going to need to pull the entire dishwasher out of the counter and tip it on its side. Then you will need to clean the trap before the sump pump. Then flush the unit and clean it out again.

Dishes and glasses on the top rach are not getting clean-bottom rack is fine.

Check that the arms spin freely when spun by hand, then check the outlet jets at the trailing end of the arms are not blocked with food particles and other solid matter. This often happens and the arm is unable to turn because the water jet that is supposed to drive the arm does not have the force to rotate it with the result is that the upper dishes do not get enough water and chemicals. It may also cause water to continue dripping onto dried dishes after the the drying cycle has stopped.

Even after a deep cleaning cycle I keep getting food particles on the inside of the glasses that sit in the top rack of the dishwasher. The unit is only 5 months old! Help!

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

The dishes/glasses on the top shelf are not getting clean

Here is a link to a procedure I put together to clean out your pump. A plugged up sump is the most common reason for poor washing on the upper rack.

Let me know if this helps.

Residue and small particles left in upper rack dishes and glasses. maytag mbh940aww dishwasher. Is there a filter to clean?

Hi,

Probably a blocked spray arm. Remove the top spray arm and check and clean all the holes as this is where the water sprays out from to clean the dishes and glasses. When they are blocked you get poor wash results.

Yes there will also be a filter in the base of the unit to clean. This needs to be done regularly to avoid food getting into the working parts of the unit.

Kenmore elite dishwasher leaves food particles on dishes

If someone is putting dishes in the washer and obstructing the spray ams that would cause food to stay on dishes. After loading dishwasher and pushing in baskets make sure the spray arm doesnt hit any of the dishes causing them to not clean properly. If that doesnt work or is definately not your problem try removing the spray arm and seeing if it has food inside of it. Some times they get food build up in them and need to be flushed out.

Film and food residieu remains on upper rack

Hi, is the wash arm underneath the upper basket turning freely and is it not blocked with any food particles? I've had items out of my dishwasher with a similar problem and it's been when the upper wash arm has been blocked or a spoon has fell through and prevented it from turning and washing properly.

Good luck.
