This is the same problem I am having, There are two sets of windings on the stator that are 180 degrees apart so you can get the 240 volts. By measuring the resistance of the exciter windings I found that one of the windings is open so half of the 240V is "missing. I have 600+ hours on the generator so there isn't any warranty. A new stator is $699. I'm going to buy a new generator rather than pay $600 to replace the stator..
Hi,
At the wire assembly there should be 2 white and 2 black wires, a white and a black are the ends of one 110v winding. With the 2 white wires connected together you should get 240 from the black wires. This sounds like it is a problem with one of the circuit breakers in the 240v outlet in the control box, check them with an ohm meter.
Regards,
Carl
