HP Monitor blanking out on full screen mode

I have a brand new HP 19" monitor which I have connected to my Dell PC. I have a newish graphics card, Nvidia 6600. The new monitor works fine in normal mode, running desktop applications or using the Web. When you run a game as soon as full screen mode kicks in the screen goes blank. Connected to old monitor and it works fine. I have downloaded all latest drivers for monitor and graphics catd but to no avail. Have tried different screen resoloutions but this doesn't work either. HELP!

This happens with all games that run in full screen mode. I have run a direct draw test and it blanks out in full screen mode on this test. Thanks for the solutions, I will give them both a try.

Hi, I read this somewhere (can't recall the site). Go to your desktop properties (right click on any clear area of your desktop); Settings tab; Advanced button; Troubleshoot Tab; Uncheck Enable Write combining; Reboot your PC. If this does not fix the problem, you can always revert back. Hope this be of some help. Good luck and kind regards.

It may be worth going to the game makers web site and see if there are any patches regarding your make of your graphics card. It may also be the fact that the game resolution does not match the screen resolution, try changing it in the game settings if it's possible for you to do so, as the monitor seems to be struggling with the change of resolution as you start up the game.

No input signal recommended settings hp vs15 monitor 1024x768 60h

old monitor 1280 x 1024
power light on?
OSD work?
if it said on the screen no input sig, then that is 100% true
the PC is not sending output.

check the video cable connections both ends
then if bad, boot PC to safe mode. does that work.
then maybe you set the PC graphic resolution too high for the monitor. use safe mode to set new , legal resolution
1280 x 1024 is max, do not exceed, the horz, vert, reso to the left here. if you do the monitor , will display, out of range. errors.

im confused, you show HP monitor then Sam.
why ?
my guess is HP question posted in SAM section.
so here is my HP answer
1280 x 768 @ 75Hz

if your PC or other device exceeds any of those. this old monitor
will go blank.
HOR, vert and refresh rates max.

to solve this riddle, set the PC to
1280 x 768
then connect monitor and bingo.
but there is a chicken and egg deal here.
if the display car is over this, as most new systems are.
then use safe mode to set the resolution to 1280 x 768
and reboot to normal mode.
boot and it F8 , safemode.

Monitor is in slef adjust mode how can i turn it off

It seems like graphics resoluation setting is changed and is beyond the range your monitor can support, what colour is the power light of monitor? as there is no model of the monitor, I can recommend to connect a bit newer version of monitor and see if the screen is on, if not then it will be graphics card settings.

Are Dell monitors not compatible with older HP Pavilion Computer? I tried to connect my HP CPU to a Dell monitor and it will not recognize it at all.

It shouldn't make any difference which monitor you are connecting to any computer. In fact, I am running a 19" HP Flat Panel on my Dell Dimension 2400 right now. It is NOT a wide screen monitor as the Dell built in graphics card will not support the RESOLUTION RATIO required for the wide screen. Check what setting is "native resolution" for your monitor and see if your graphics card will support it. If not, using your old monitor, try different resolution settings. Right click on your desk top, click on properties and that should bring up the display properties box. Try a lower setting as larger settings are the ones that will give you a black screen. It will probably give you a smaller picture on your old monitor, or perhaps smaller or larger icons on the desk top. Accept the new settings, turn off your computer and switch monitors, and turn your computer back on. If you get a picture, but it does not fill the whole screen or the icons seem too large or small, then go back into properties from the desktop and try a different resolution ratio until the picture seems correct.

My new Dell flat screen monitor is blank and posting a message - entering power save mode- ... when I restart it briefly displays the Dell logo and other normal display at normal startup then switches to...

You'll need to troubleshoot a little. SOmething may be broken, but you'll need to find out what. 1: Try the monitor on another computer, see wether it will work on that one. If it doesn't, the monitor's broken and you're probably going to need a new one. 2: If the monitor does work, put it back, but now use another cable to connect it to the PC. If that fixes it, your cable was broken. 3: If not, you could try to switch the graphics card in the PC with another one. Do not attempt that, however, unless you know what you're doing. If you don't, get someone you know to do it for you, or take it to a computer shop. If the PC will boot with another graphics card, the old one is broken. 4: If not, it may be your motherboard that's broken. Repeat step 3 with it. These steps should fix your problem. If not, please post back here. Regards, Yannick.

Bank Monitor problems

Unplug the cable from your PC, if the monitor shows a test image, the monitor is fine and the problem is with your graphic card. If you dont see nothing on-screen after unpluging the cable from the PC, then the monitor in damaged. Send it to repair.
