Rosetta Stone Black Screen

Hi, I have Version 2 of Rosetta Stone Chinese, and after a long absence, I decided to get back to it. However, every time I try to launch the program I just get a black screen and the Mac's swirling color wheel. Even after waiting it out, nothing happens and I have to force quit. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, following precisely the instructions they gave me, and it's still the same. There's no specific error number or anything, it just doesn't work. Also, when I click on and open the "Configure Rosetta Stone Client" to make sure that the SMS and the program are linked correctly, the window just freezes every time and I have to force quit it, so I'm not sure if I'm getting the black screen because they're not linked, and if that is the reason, then it doesn't help that it freezes when I try to link them. I tried contacting Rosetta Stone and they said the product is too old for them to help, so I checked their online database, and still didn't find anything. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

same problem, did a lot of research, no fix found, problem with nero dropping frames and not recovering. xvid codec not the issue, many people have the same problem with nero vision. bummer :(

1. TS and TS licensing server are installed in the same 2003 server. The lsview doesn’t list any TS licensing server.
2. If you open the Terminal Server Licensing, it shows “Finding servers… Connecting to \\apps\chicagotech.net. It never finds the apps server. There is not apps server in the network (They might remove this server from the network). After finishing the finding, there are two activated licensing servers listed, one is Windows 2000 server as 2000 TS licensing server and another one is Windows 2003 (also TS) as 2003 TS Licensing server.
3. The 2003 TS Licensing shows they are using Temporary License.
4. We modified the 2003 TS registry to point Licenseserver to itself (TS and TS license are the same server). That fixes the logon screen slow showing issue but not TS licensing issue.

I faced this problem and I solved it by :
1. uninstall adobe flash ActiveX
2. Install adobe flash plugin try to download it by use chrome ( I used chrome ..google browser)
3. uninstall tell me more
4. Install tell me more
5. Run tell me more

If the "Configuration Progress box" is coming up every time you run and Office 2007 product, Click on "Start" -> "Control panel "->"Add or Remove Programs ". Check to see if you Still have a previous version of the Microsoft product installed. For example, "Microsoft Word " from "Microsoft Office 2007" takes 2 to 3 minutes to load because the "Configuration Progress box" comes up, checking the "Add or Remove Programs", showed "Microsoft Office 2003 " was still installed. After remove "Microsoft Office 2003", "Microsoft Word 2007" opened quickly without the configuration bar.

Create a security exception. 1. In ESET NOD32 (Smart Security 5), click Setup.
2. On the Setup screen, click Enter advanced setup... (bottom of screen).
3. On the Advanced setup screen, open Computer -> Antivirus and antispyware -> Exclusions.
4. Click Add , locate/select the Rosetta Stone Version 3 executable, then click OK. (In my case, the executable was in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Rosetta Stone Version 3 folder.)
5. Click OK on the Advanced setup screen.
Set the Rosetta Stone compatibility mode. 1. Right click the Rosetta Stone desktop icon or Start -> All programs -> Rosetta Stone.
2. Select Properties from the list.
3. Select the Compatibility tab.
4. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode box.
5. In the list below the check box, select the OS (in my case, Windows 7).
6. Click OK.

My Rosetta stone worked fine the first time I used it. The next time I opened it up I selected my user name and was brought to the plain backgroundd screen and nothing happens. I could stare at this grey...

Hi, I'm using Rosetta Stone 3 online through a school license. I keep getting a 'loading next screen' box popping up, but it gets stuck at three quarters loaded, and refuses to go any further! Any ideas on...

Do you have the issue with other levels or languages as well? Maybe you can try removing and then adding the languages again, and see if that helps. As a last resort, you can also try reinstalling Rosetta Stone if this occurs with all languages and levels you own.

Version 3/4: Error 9123 during Language CD installation

This error message relates to Version 3 and Version4. If you receive a 9123 error message during language installation, try one of the following resolutions:
  • Clean the disc with alcohol/windex/water and a soft cloth and try installing again.
  • Disable your internet security program, especially Norton or Symantec Security and try installing again.

Rosetta Stone Starts but the home screen in blank

Sounds like you saved your progress file in a non Rosetta Stone folder and now it can't associate the progress with any language packs.

I accidentally moved my Rosetta Stone file to the trash and emptied it in an attempt to uninstall. However, when I went to re-install they said I can't because there's a newer version already installed....

open the trash folder, select the rosetta stone file(s) and click restore. You may need to select a unique directory to install the files to avoid conflict with the other version.

Headset Problem Rosetta Stone

I found the answer. Rosetta Stone has a problem detecting the mics if the speaker input is not in someway connected to the mic. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I don't care and neither should you.

Follow these steps each time you want to use it and you should be fine.
*I'm on Vista, but this should work for every one.
1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Hardware and Sound
3.Open Sound
4.Set Line 1 as your Default Speaker
5. Refresh the Mic list
*All of your mics should now show up.
6. In Rosetta Stone, apply the mic you want and finish the setup.
7.Start whatever language you're using and switch back to the Sound menu.
8.Set whatever speaker you want to use as default.
*Rosetta Stone will continue to work fine until you close it, switch Users, or remove the mic.

In short you have to set the default speaker to LINE 1 to get the mics to appear. Then when you apply the settings switch the default speaker back.
