Leapfrog Clickstart doesn't switch off and doesn't work

Hi i recently bought a 9volt adapter for my vtech smile console for my kid.. and tried using it on the Leapfrog Clickstart and it worked even though it only needed 5volt for an adapter. Worked good for 2 days and then suddenly it goes blank and doesn't want to switch off. Unplugged everything, and back on and the unit is on right away instead of the actually pressing of the green button to switch it on. And there's nothin on the screen. Please help

You blew the circuit board by putting to much power into it. Never use more power then suggested for this reason. All adaptors have a volt and an amp rating. Sorry it happend best wishes!

My Vtech vsmile didn't work a the time I push the power button never happend my batterie are test and are brand new an i try to connect direct with a power supply never work again

There are problems with the power adaptors. Did you use a VSmile power adaptor, or something that just seemed to fit the unit? Using the wrong power adaptor (like unknowingly plugging a Leapfrog power adaptor) into the unit can cause damage to the Vsmile Board.
Push and hold the power (smile) button for one minute, then install fresh batteries. if it powers back up, then try:

Dirty Smartridges (the game cartridges) are to blame for about 90% of VTech Vsmile products not powering up.
In some instances, the cartridge slot on the unit itself can become damaged and will cause no power up.
Kids (of all ages) can dirty a smartridge in less than a second, and render the whole system dead.

Clickstart game "Diego" uses symbols that kids are supposed to find on their keyboard but their keyboard only has letters and numbers and the game will not allow you cannot move until you find the symbol

Same problem; it happened when my daughter got over 999 boot boxes, the counter wrapped, the problem occurred. If you create or play under a new profile it works fine.

If the link does not open, go to www.leapfrog.com - click 3-5 years, you will find clickstart first computer in line 4.. - click the photo - scroll down under the large image to find the parent guide.

Good luck! :)

My clickstart will not turn on . I put new batteries in and nothing. I hit the reset as well. No light no power. Thanks for your help

Maybe try plugging in an adapter instead of the batteries. There could be a wiring problem with the battery terminal.
Hope this works for you.

If you plugged in a 9 volt power supply where you only needed 5 volts, you probably burned something out. Although the power cords have the same end, the voltages are critical. You can try to get the Leap Pad replaced but, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

V.smile console - picture jumping up and down on 37" LCD screen

I found this with ours and I bought a new system and the AC adapter to go with the new system batteries were getting crazy anyhow the kids hooked up the old one to the vsmile adapter and it stopped. So from experience you need fresh batteries or only the vsmile 9v adapter, other brand adapters also caused the jumping!

V-smile will not turn on

My kids had there v-smile for about 11 months then it would not turn on so I called the v-tech help line 1-800-521-2010 I had to stay on hold for about 30 minutes then had to deal with a lady that was very rude to me but she did help solve the problem...she told me to unplug the adapter, take out all batteries and make sure everything is unhooked from the game then hold the on button down for 1 minute (NOT THE ON AND OFF) and that will restart the system.. I made sure i tried it before i got off the phone with the lady because i didnt want to wait another 30 minutes to talk to someone again...It did help my problem...hope this helps you.
