I have a Kenmore heavy duty super capacity (so it says!) Washer, model #20422991, which I am having a hard time finding. It also says Type 111 and serial #CL0110950. I think the machine could be dated to just before 2007, when I moved in the home. I was washing a load and everything was fine until, the cool down when it paused as it usually does. But...it wouldn't start up and drain and then spin and rinse. I tried again, I tried and it would always add more water to start and add more water to rinse, but the switch sounded like it failed as it tried to relay (?) to next step which was drain and/or spin. What do you think is wrong? Could it be the control switch/relay something or other? Is there a way to manually drain the water? I think my lid piece is fine, but I'll recheck to see if it clicks, but I hate to make it fill with any more water!

SOURCE: What is the date of manufacturing based on the serial number of my Kenmore 70 series washer?

Tyler,
It came off of the Clyde, OH production line the 26'th week of 2001.

Amazing, ain't it? Seriously... the info is embedded in the serial number. Here's the link to the code sheet.

If you suspect you have a defective timer it can easily be replaced by performing the following steps:

1. Unplug washing machine... and pull out the timer knob. Some knobs have a removeable center cap and hidden screw. Some are simply slip-fit. Remove the knob.

2. Remove console. This can be accomplished in one of two ways depending on which type of console you have.

a. If the console has removable end caps, the caps lift off by prying on the top from the back of the washer.
The cap will pull off towards you as you are facing the unit from the front of the washer.
There will be a screw under each end cap that you will need to remove.

b. If the console does not have removable end caps, you will need to slide a putty knife under the front corner of each side and push in while lifting up.
There is a retaining clip under each side that has to be released.

3. Once the console has been released it will lift up and fold back over the back of the washer in its resting position. Use care not to stress the small plastic hinges that hold it on. They can break easily.

4. Disconnect all power plugs and remove the timer's mounting screws.

5. Reinstall reverse of removal.

Have a Kenmore heavy duty super capacity 22442100 type 111 washer. Washer won't drain. How do I locate the drain pump?

If top load, look in the back by the water lines. The pump would be in the frame behind there just follow the only tube besides the water lines. If a front loader look directly below door or on the sides for a little 4"-4" access panel. You will need a small pan to catch water. Open the access panel with pan nearby and unscrew the stopper. Sometimes there's money, or lent blocking that and once you clean it out it takes care of the problem.

Kenmore 90 plus series: heavy duty super capacity won't agitate

this is the site to find out how to fix your washer.
you have a broken drive coupling.
it probably wont agitate or spin, but will fill and drain.
you need to remove 2 screws from the control panel, hinge it back and then remove the 2 brass colored clips that hold the cabinet to the base. once you do then pull the entire cabinet forwards to a 45 degree angle and pull it off the base.
then pull the 2 clips off pump and then 2 more on the motor. that will allow you to get to the drive coupling. you will find it to be broken.
replace it with part number 285753a for about 15-20 bucks.
