I just replaced the alternator on my vehicle and now the cd wont turn on everything esle in the car works fine

If the anti theft light is blinking and you say that everything else fine.. My first thought is that the key is not programmed to the vehicle. The key has a internal chip that must be programmed to vehicle in order to start. Now my other question is, Is the key your using for the vehicle the original key or have you just recently had a key made? Regardless, in order for the yur Tribute to start, the key. Or keys have to be program to vehicle by your neighbor dealership. Thats the reason for your anti theft light is blinking

Its seems voltage regulator issue.Get the vehicles charging system inspected.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. Just replaced my key the ignition switch and the esl in my c230 98 Benz. Worked for about a week and now the esl will not unlock the steering or start the car. Is there any way to reset the esl? All three components are new I don't understand the problem .what causes the esl not to engage when you put the key in the ignition

You will need to pull the cover off of the guage assembly. There are little light bulbs inside that have probably burned out. Replace them and your dash lights should work again. Hope this helps. Good luck.

replace the ECM unit as wrong polarity from jumpers causes them to burn out

Take the car to Sears or another large auto parts store and have them check the condition of the battery and alt. They do the check for free!
Watch what they do and have them explain.

You have your accessory wire (red wire) and remote ran together and the yellow (constant wire ran separately in the dash?

You need the red wire to so you can use accessory and to turn off your cd player when your vehicle turns off.

You need the yellow wire to keep all your settings stored. base/treble/time clock

Just a little clarification. Your amp turns on with the remote wire (blue) wire, if that is not hooked up you will get no power to the amp.

Do you happen to have an after market wiring harness? These can be bought from walmart for your vehicle. You just take the male end connect the colors together and plug end that goes to your cd player into the female end. Very easy to do.

You could also have one of these fuses out under your hood, that might cause you to lose power to everything.

Take the unit out of the dash. In the back of the unit, disconnect/remove the wiring connector. Underneath a little "flap" on the bottom of this connector there is a small red 10V fuse. That fuse had blown, and when I replaced it the CD?radio worked just fine.
