Bose Lifestyle 30 6-cd changer magazine manual release?

Hi, I have a Bose LS30 with a 6-cd changer magazine that's not ejecting. When powered off, the system checks all CD's in the magazine, but it seems like a CD may be stuck. On the bottom the unit, there is a slot with a label, "Manual Magazine Release". Does anyone know how to manually release the CD magazine? TIA, Genny

    Help out there please!

I have a Lifestyle 20 System. I tried the solution with the flathead screwdriver with no results. I do not think there is a CD in the 6-CD magazine or in the player. When I turn the CD source select on I get one quick flash on the display of "EO-1". Any other suggestions? Sending it back to Bose at this point does not seem financially prudent.

    Thanks.

Hi, you can release the magazine by inserting a small flat head screwdriver in the slot and pushing the lever towards the back of the unit, this will release the cd but only if ther is not one stuck in the player as it will remain halfway between the mag and the cdplayer. don't force it to comae out. remember to obviously have the dorr to the player open before you try this.

Hello There. You may not read this comment since the post has been four years old. Thank you for the manual magazine release tip. I successfully removed the CD magazine in my LS 30 which was stuck there for years. Didn't know it being a design flaw from Bose. I thought the kids broke it. Thanks again.

Ok I found the release and it releases the cassette. There must be a CD stuck in the player as the cassette will not eject from the player. HOW do I get that to go back into the cassette so I can get it out?

How do you open the base unit to remove the cd changer magazine

The top cover is held on with 4 clips (similar to those on a car door card) so needs to be gently prised off, this will expose screws etc to enable the bottom cover to be removed.

Ive done this with my system but it does not really help solve the problem, I still can't get to the jammed disc!!

I can not eject a disc from the disc player. I've heard this is a common problem. Thanks. Curt Pasawicz

Hi curt730,

You're right, this is a known issue for years with Bose Lifestyle. You may try these steps to resolve the issue:

Note: You will need a flashlight and a small screwdriver.

1. First, disconnect the base unit from the system.

2. Turn the base unit upside down and find the access hole embossed with "Manual magazine release" on the CD player side.

3. Then, using the flashlight, look inside the base unit at those access holes and find the fine spring and locate where it fastens to the sheet metal of the CD player.

4. The moment you find the spring you should see that it connects to the CD player chassis at the forward end and a piece of sheet metal that is on top (actually underneath when the base unit is right-wide up) of the CD player chassis at the rear end. This is the manual release mechanism.

5. Finally using the small screwdriver, push the release mechanism rearward to release the CD magazine from the player. The magazine should pop out.

If the magazine is not released, then the CD that is still in the player has not been slid back fully into the magazine. In this case you'll need to plug the base unit back into power and hope that the CD is retracted, allowing you to push the release mechanism rearward. If not then you'll have to open the base unit to access the CD player.

Hope this helps.

How do I remove a stuck 6CD changer magazine?

Our Bose has a 5 CD player, So, I'm not sure if this is the same for your base unit, but here goes. You'll need: a bright light and a small screwdriver that reaches inside the chassis (or equivalent).

1. Disconnect the base unit from the system.
2. Turn the base unit upside down and find the access hole embossed with "Manual magazine release" on the CD player side.
3. Using a bright light, look inside the base unit at those access holes and find the fine spring and locate where it fastens to the sheet metal of the CD player.
4. When you find the spring you should see that it connects to the CD player chassis at the forward end and a piece of sheet metal that is on top (actually underneath when the base unit is right-wide up) of the CD player chassis at the rear end. This is the manual release mechanism.
5. Using the small screwdriver, push the release mechanism rearward to release the CD magazine from the player. The magazine should pop out.

If the magazine is not released, then the CD that is still in teh player has not been slid back fully into the magazine. In this case you'll need to plug the base unit back into power and hope that the CD is retracted, allowing you to push the release mechanism rearward. If not then you'll have to open the base unit to access the CD player.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check that the speaker cables are not damaged and the connections are secure. Reduce the output level from any external components connected to the music center. Make sure the audio input cable is firmly seated in the music center SPEAKER ZONE 1 jack and the multi-pin connector on the other end is firmly seated in the Accustoms module AUDIO INPUT jack. Check the cables connecting the Jewel Cube TM speakers to the Accustoms module. To restore communication between the music center and the speakers turn the music center off for ten seconds, then on again. Check the connections for any external components. Make sure to select the correct source for the desired input. Be sure the CD is placed correctly, label-side up, in the magazine, and the magazine is inserted properly in the music center. Increase the volume. Check to see if MUTE is lit on the display. If it is, press the MUTE button on the remote control to un-mute the sound. Disconnect any headphones. Connect the FM and AM antennae. Check to see if the play symbol in the display is lit. After pressing the CD key, wait a few seconds before pressing PLAY. Make sure the magazine is properly inserted. Check to see if there is a disc in the magazine, label-side up. Display shows a flashing box for a disc that is label-side down or cannot be read. There may be dirt or dust on the CD. If so, clean the CD. Eject the magazine and try loading the CD again. A display message “E01” indicates a mechanical error. Unplug the music center. Reconnect power and try again. If “E01” reappears, call customer service.

If the CD stuck again as you stated in your earlier comments, then you need to use a small and long screwdriver to reach the notch. Now turn the media center upside down so that the "Manual Magazine Release" is in your upper right hand. Locate the two small rectangular "Open Slots" on the side. You need to use the top slot. Use the screwdriver and push the little "U" or "Y" Shaped metal upward which is just below the manual release. The magazine will come out.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

There are some repair instructions available at www.AnyoneCanFixIt.com in the electronics section that will show you how to release the CD magazine and fix the problem where the unit will not play the CDs (you will hear a buzzing, buzzing, buzzing, and nothing will load or play).
