SOURCE: wireless network adpater problem

This model normally came with wireless standard. If not, then you can add any PCMCIA wireless card from Wal-Mart, etc.

If you need a replacement for the built in one, try HP parts at partsurfer.hp.com

How do I turn on my WLAN on my Compaq Presorio CQ57?

Make sure the wifi card is installed and after that look for the wireless enable button ..It should be somewhere near the wireless indicator led..or ..sometimes it is hidden on the edge of the front side..Just press and the led should be blue when it is enabled or red if it is disabled..
Another way ..is just check in the device manager for the card to be installed and without any warning signs ..(right click on computer aka my computer ...and select properties and hardware and device manager or select directly device manager for windows 7 ..)in there look under network ..and if the wireless card is present and not having an ask sign in yellow it means it is functional ..
click right on it ..and select enable ..or ..close the manager and go to network places...and select the wireless connection ..and click right on it ..and select enable ..This will be equivalent of pressing the external enable button ..
It should make it present in the notification area..and you can select the network after making a scan for them ..
If nothing works..go to the hp support / downloads..select your model ..and operation system ..and download again the wireless card driver ..run it and restart it ..This should make it functional ..but also you have to check if it is enabled..
lets hope is js a matter of pressing the button and make it functional ..Good luck ..!

Hi, I have just re-loaded the Windows operating system onto my Compaq Presario 2143EA. Then I downloaded the Broadcom drivers for the wireless adapter via the HP website. However, it seems the actual...

If the adapter is present(uninstalled), it should be listed in device manager under other devices and NOT under network adapters. If you see the adapter there, right click it and click on update drivers. If you don't see the adapter even under other devices in device manager, you can restart the computer and check. If still can't see, check with a computer hardware technician who will open your computer and check if the wireless card is being provided with power and if the physical connections are ok.

For further clarifications, please revert!
Thanks for asking.

More than likely. Especially if you bought the new card from a different company than the one that made your machine. Look on the card for model info, and google "(#model) wireless driver download".

How to fix wifi button on compaq c700 wifi button is orange instead of blue

First check in device manager under network adaptor wethere you have driver for wireless or not (It could be either interl pro wireless driver or broadcom wireless driver) if it is not present then reinstall it from hp.com.(http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3559331&) even if it is present then uninstall and reinstall it.
You can also check wethere there is a wireless switch try to slide it to and fro and check.
Install latest bios update for the computer from hp.com
Lastly reseat the wireless card and then reinstall the drivers if this doesnt resolve the problem, run recovery and check, if still no go then replace wireless card or motherboard has gone bad.

Network card

Any type of PCMCIA network card should work okay.
Go down to Staples, Best Buy or Office Depot and find
a decent PCMCIA network card.  You should be able to find
one for under $50
