Doesn't sew When I turn on the machine, prepare fabric, place under the presser foot and press the foot pedal. The presse1r foot symbol is blinking as if I have not put the foot in the down position. The machine beeps 3 times and will only do the 1 down stroke of the needle. When I re-press the foot pedal it beeps 3 times and will only do 1 up-stroke of the needle. No normal sewing is possible. I am told there is a spring that tells the machine the presser foot is up or down. This spring has failed/worn. Can I replace or repair it myself? The repair shop is a 2 hour drive away. This is the 3rd time this particular repair is needed. After the 1st repair I have babied this machine and am very careful how I approach the presser foot with an embroidery hoop (from the rear) and not hyperextending the presser foot lever. Of my 6 machines this is the only one which gives me problems.

same as emnsam--I have cleaned the maching, rethreaded, checked bobbin , checked bobbin rewind, unplugged and tried again. the needle will go down and then the pressure foot flashed and then nothing.

we're having the same problem....very happy to find these posts so that
we know what we are dealing with. If it's just a pressure spring,
perhaps we can replace it ourselves.Maybe we can put a jumper wire
across the terminals on that sensor (on top of the needle bar) that is
getting the bad signal from the weak spring, and make the connection
that would be made by a stronger spring.

I've got the same problem and would be thankful if there's any solution without giving the machine to the shop.... problem of not enough money.

  • Anonymous Jan 24, 2009

I have the same problem as emnsam. My machine is a Husqvarna Rose Type 600, 10902763. It will not sew. The pressure foot blinks, you get 3 beeps and the needle only moves one half of a stroke. If you wiggle, jiggle, and manuever the pressure foot lever around you can get it to sew eventially. Is there a repair I can do without taking it in for service

  • Anonymous Jan 24, 2009

I have a Husqvarna Rose 600, 10902763 which will not sew. The pressure foot blinks and I get 3 beeps. If I wiggle the presssure foot lever, and jiggle it for a while, I can finally get it to sew, but as soon as I lift the foot up I go back to the same problem. Is there a way I can make a repair to correct this without taking it in for service?

It is actually the foot of the machine that I would like to raise in order to sew bulkier items

If the fabric is too thick to fit under the presser foot of your machine, then you need to find an industrial machine. Most likely, even if you could get the fabric under the presser foot, very thick fabric places undue stress on your machine and could burn up the motor or break some gears.

Is there any way to get a brother auto button hole to work on a thick winter jacket

Thick fabric presents some special problems for buttonholes. It may help to place tissue paper (like giftwrap tissue) under and above the fabric to help the fabric slide better. If not using a special buttonhole foot, a teflon foot or roller foot may also help.

Also, consult your owner's manual. If your machine has a presser foot pressure adjustment, it may help to loosen that so the presser foot does not press so hard on the fabric.

How to bring sewing foot holder to embroidery position

Hi, I hope this helps. If it doesn't post again.
"Check:
Place the sewing foot under the sewing foot
holder so that the pins of the foot snap into
the sewing foot holder when the presser foot
lifter is lowered.
Please check that the sewing foot is properly
engaged by raising the presser foot lifter
."

Question: Are you using top feed? If so:
"For all sewing jobs with the top feed, only use sewing feet with Cutout at the back (OA, 1A, 3, 4)."

Embroidery foot Part No.: 98-694-840-00 will not work with top feed.

Also, except for eyelets, the darning foot can be used for embroidery.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do :) darn or embroider :); I'm not sure what mode you're working in either; embroidery mode?

Darning with straight stitch
Program 00
Fit darning foot No. 6.
Set the needle at its highest position by turning
the handwheel, and push the pin of the darning
foot fully into the hole of the sewing foot holder
slightly pressing the darning foot between thumb
and forefinger. When doing this, the guide fork
should place itself around the presser bar and the
wire must be behind the fixing screw.
Darning position:
Lower the presser foot lifter pressing it lightly to
the rear until it snaps into the darning position.
Important Only in this position you have the
optimum thread tension for darning.

• Place the darning work in the darning hoop.
• Lower the feed dog.
• Pull up the bobbin thread and hold the threads
when you start sewing.
• Now guide the fabric back and forth evenly;
the length of the darn will be set by the size of
the hole. As you are determining the stitch
length yourself while sewing with the feed dog
lowered, you should sew at an even speed.
When you have reached the width of the dam
aged area, darn over the damaged area again
from right to left.
This guarantees a durable darn.
TIP: The faster you sew, the easier and more even
the darning will be. It you are moving the workpiece
too slowly, small knots will appear on the
wrong side of the fabric."

Whether working with terry-cloth or woven fabric,
with the help of the darning foot and the pro
gram 02 you can embroider initials of your own
design

Drop the feed dog and insert the darning foot.
Put the machine into the darning position.

Spread the fabric in an embroidery hoop and
embroider in accordance with program 02.

Lower feed dog
If the feed dog is not lowered for embroidering, the
machine does not embroider when the foot pedal
is pressed and the message appea rs:
Lower feed dog

ok?
The feed dog must be lowered in embroidery
mode.

I have a singer model #2932 It will not advance the fabric, just keeps sewing in the same place

I've been sewing since I was six (with mom's help), but all sewing machines are basically the same. The feed dog, which is what advances the fabric is most likely not moving. If you look at the area just under the presser foot & needle you'll see little "teeth". This is the feed dog. Take the thread out of the needle and run the machine without any fabric. Watch those teeth. They should rise & lower into the base. If they don't move when the foot pedal is pressed, then that is your problem and you'll need to take it to a repair shop. Good luck.

Thread is bunching up under fabric

Raise the presser foot and pull out about 8" of thread.

Place fabric under the presser foot, lower and sew.

If this works, then you forgot to raise the presser foot before you threaded the machine.

If not, then the machine needs to go into the shop for service as the timing may need to be adjusted. This needs to be done by a professional repair person.

I have problems with not be able to pick up the thread from the bobbin to start sewing

Make sure the needle is not bent and is installed with the flat side of the needle shaft to the back of the machine.

Thread the machine with the presser foot up, with the thread going into the needle from the front ,

Check the manual to be sure you have the bobbin inserted correctly into the bobbin case and the thread is feeding in the proper direction and through the guides on the bobbin case.

Hold onto the end of the top thread at the needle and hand walk the needle down and back up. This should bring the bobbin thread up. Take both thread ends under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Place a folded scrap of fabric under the presser foot, lower the presser foot and hand walk the needle down into the fabric and then use the power pedal to start sewing.

The thread bunches up underneath the fabric and then the machine stops after about 3/4 " of running. IM sure there is a simple solution, but I dont know what.

Refer to the maintenance section of your manual for cleaning the machine.

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up.

Check the needle to be sure the flat side of the needle shaft faces the back of the machine.

Check the bobbin to be sure the thread is feeding in the correct direction and though the proper guides.

Using the handwheel, lower the threaded needle, holding onto the the end of the thread and then raise to pull up the bobbin thread.

Take both threads under the presser foot and to the back of the sewing machine.

Place the fabric under the presser foot and while holding onto both threads, lower the needle into the fabric by turning the handwheel by hand and create one stitch.

Let go of the threads and press on the power pedal.

If this does not resolve the issue, the machine may need the timing adjusted and this needs to be done in a shop by an authorized Singer tech.

If the machine is new, the warranty may cover the adjustment.

Bobbin jaming up

Clean the bobbin area.

Thread the machine with the presser foot up - always,

Make sure the bobbin thread is feeding clockwise and through the guides on the bobbin case.

Lower the threaded needle down and back up while holding onto the thread end. This will pull the bobbin thread up. Hold onto both threads and pull under the presser foot and to the back of the sewing machine.

Hold on to the thread ends and lower the needle into the fabric, then press the foot pedal.

You may want to use a leader - a folded scrap of fabric that you sew to the edge of and then **** against the fabric you want to sew. Sew off the leader and onto the fabric and this will keep the thread from going down into the machine. You can have a few stitches between the two to make it easy to cut the leader away.

When you stop to adjust the fabric make sure the needle is down to anchor the fabric (turning corners, sewing a curve. etc).

The slightest movement of the fabric when the needle is up will sometimes cause a thread jam.

Beginner on a sewing machine just got a Euro- Pro from my aunt having a hard time getting it to sew something. I threaded it and ready to go now it wont sew soooo what might be wrong with it?

See if you can find your model here and refer to the instructions to see if you missed something when you threaded the machine - http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Threading_Diagrams.htm

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up so the thread enters the tension so it will properly work when the foot is down for sewing.

Check the needle to be sure it is inserted correctly - this is usually with the flat side facing the back of the machine.

Hold onto the thread tail at the needle and handwalk the needle down and back up, which will bring up the bobbin thread.

Hold onto both threads and pull them under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Place the fabric under the presser foot. Lower the foot and move the needle down into the fabric - press the foot pedal.

How to use a zipper foot please? I have lost instructions and have no idea which is the zipper foot or how to use it can you help please.

  1. Step 1 To prepare the fabric for a centered zipper application, use the standard presser foot to baste the opening of the fabric shut using 5/8 inch seam allowance. Press the seam allowance open. Place the zipper teeth side down on the seam allowance and pin the zipper to the seam allowance only.
  2. Step 2 Release the standard presser foot from your machine. There may be a button or lever behind the foot that you need to press. Put the standard foot in its holder or someplace where it won’t get lost.
  3. Step 3 Decide which side of the machine you want to attach the zipper foot to. Zipper feet are asymmetrical, with one side that’s wider than the other. You’ll want to put the narrow side toward the zipper teeth, and the wider side away from the zipper teeth.
  4. Step 4 Attach the zipper foot to the sewing machine. You may need to line up the bar on the zipper foot with the presser foot holder, then lower the presser foot by lowering the lever. Raise the presser foot and make sure the zipper foot is securely attached.
  5. Step 5 Place the prepared fabric with the pinned zipper in the sewing machine. Lower the needle into the zipper tape and the seam allowance only, then lower the zipper foot. Stitch the zipper tape to the seam allowance. To sew the other side of the zipper to the seam allowance, remove the zipper foot from the sewing machine and install it on the other side of the presser foot holder.
  6. Step 6 Topstitch the outside of the fabric to each side of the zipper tape, making sure that the zipper foot is on the appropriate side of the machine for each side. Remove the basting with a seam ripper.
