Hi, You say it stopped generating, does that mean it starts and runs but puts out no power? We will also need a model number if you can find one. Do you run all from one circuit or do you have multiple circuit breakers? Is this a portable you carry on board or is this a marine genset?

have an electrician check the relay that is activated when the utility power fails
that is what starts the genset when it is in auto
it should also stop the get set when utility power comes back on

there are some magnets behind the flywheel to cause the battery charging system to recharge the batt. sometimes they come unbonded/loose from the flywheel and cause the engine to become hard to turn. I would start there first.

Check the inlet fuel pressure, on exervise there is no load, when power is out it is loaded and demands more fuel. Also check for bugs blocking gas regulators vents etc

Your problem is mag pick up, or possibly the solar panels are reverse powering the generator, if the home consumes less than solar output

Is there a fault?? All UL listed generators including Kohler are required to lockout on a fault on shut down. This really sounds like a problem with your 2-wire auto start connection between your automatic transfer switch and genset. RDT model automatic transfer switch it is the 2 middle wires on the green connector and terminals 3&4 in the generator. close to run and open to shut down. Any open at any time will cause the unit to shut down. The 12 will shut down instantly upon an open because your 5 minute cool down is built into the transfer switch.

I have an 18kw kohler generator. the unit is aprox 10 years old...has about 150 hrs on it. over the weekend, when the power was out, it was running just fine when all of a sudden the ford engine...

change the temp sensor and re test the gen set these have a bord that senses if theirs a issue with the engine and will cut the bower to the get head so theirs no load on some mod's then when the temp reaches a higher point they shut down. re-post is this does not fix the issue i will review the books on the unit.

call koler but ui think is meant high heat as in the thermal circut is shuting you down or low oil
could be a couple of things best bet call kohler
