Display Problem for Philips FR951PBK01 receiver

So, my brother moved out recently and passed on this awesome reciever to me, but there's one problem with it. When I turn the receiver on the display does not work. At all. Just curious if anyone has seen this problem before or knows how to fix it. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No image, only sound when connecting marantz sr 7005 hdmi out to hdmi in on tv philips 47pfl9632d

Whatever video components you have, they should be, depending on inputs on TV, should be run to TV first. Recievers do have pass through ports but, are not the best way to achieve picture and sound. HDMI cables are great but you r reciever may not be able to transfer the video. What I suggest is taht you run your componenets, cable/sat box, DVD, etc. via HDMI, componenet, etc., to TV input, then, run audio out from TV, via(best) digital optical. You can use TV's menu to choose what you watch while, you only have the one input to reciever. Scan your recievers menu to make sure you have selected the proper mode(TV, Aux, Vid2, etc.).. If you run your video unit to TV with component cables, you will have to get your sound through separate cable(s). Component cables have graet video, but do not carry the sound.

Just hooked up Coax cable; now talking is barely audible

is the center speaker turned up in the reciever speaker settings? each speaker can be adjusted to a level that is higher or lower or all the same as the rest. also is the dolby digital turned on in the reciever settings? and changing the surround sound pre set sounds can also improve the type of audio you are listening to in 6.1 surround sound

Fax will not recieve but will send fax

what does the display reed. To receive fax automatically the display needs to reed
( fax mode or auto ) . If in the manual mode you need to pick up the receiver listen for the tones then press start.

make sure the phone cord from the wall jack is from the wall to the line connection MOT THE EXT. CONNECTION on the fax ( nothing in between the wall & fax )

hope this works

One location doesn't recieve our faxes

The problem may be that the other company is running VoIP for their phone system. The Brother MFC 7420 is documented for not having VoIP compatibility as a marketed feature. In other words they were too cheap to include it. However, with that said there is a work around. I have include the link that may be helpful in resolving this issue.

Distortion/noise and buzz in front left speaker

Try to see if the reciever will make the buzzing/noise without anything connected to it except power, and speakers. Tune into a local radio station and see if the noise continues. If the noise has stopped, then you know there is an issue with the player or cable.

Reciever display changing by itself

Sounds like a bad microcontroller. First check on the function selector knob if there is one and make sure it is not stuck - move or rotate it back and forth. Also, if the remote is nearby, try removing the batteries from it.
