HI: I bought a portable dvd player )COBY) at hastings that uses the yellow, red and white connectors. I hooked it up to my tv but have NO remote. I need to find out how to change the RCA video output so that I can receive the new dvd signal without a remote control. I have tried the menu but there is no 'switch' to do this. if you're using RCA video cables red white and yellow plug the yellow wire from the DVD player into the green input on the TV and then plug the two audio cables red and white into the same input red and white on the TV it's the green one that carries the video signal this is generally call the component input because it breaks down the colors into their components most DVD players do not have component outputs but if you hook the green and the yellow from the DVD player you should get a picture
The white, yellow, and red RCA phono jacks on the back are called VGA inputs and outputs. The Red is
right channel audio, The white is for left channel audio. The yellow is the video. Look carefully on the back of the unit and the input jacks and output jacks should be clearly marked.
There are several other input/output ports. One is HDMI which is flat and wide. Another, not common, is composite video which uses the three above mentioned RCA jacks as indicated plus two more colored jacks. This combination gives a better picture.
A third option is a screwed on cable for input and output. This is called a "F" connector and is only used if the receiver equipment has a built in tuner. The output of a cable box is usually an "F" connector and the above described outputs
If you connect the cable box to the DVD player input and the DVD player output to the TV input, you often must have the DVD player turned on so the signal will feed to the TV.
If the TV has multiple inputs, it is best to connect the cable box to one of the TV inputs and the DVD player to another TV input. Using the TV remote you can chose which input you want to watch. The remote should have a button labeled "input"
TRY USING THE RED AS THE YELLOW AND THE YELLOW AS RED, THIS SHOULD MAKE ONE SIDE OF THE AUDIO NOT WORK AND THE VIDEO WORK. REPEAT WITH THE YELLOW/ WHITE. TRY DIFFERENT CORDS. TRY IT ON A DIFFERENT SYSTEM. YOU MAY HAVE KNOCKED SOMETHING LOOSE INSIDE IT.
Look on the side of the dvd player you should see a connector that says AV Out or Video Out, you will need a wire that plugs into that which depeding on the model of dvd player can be either the Red / White/ Yellow Phono Plug Leads or a Lead which has the Red / White/ Yellow Phono Plugs and at the other end what appears to be a headphone jack connector with 3 black bands on it indicating that its a 4 Pole Video output cable, then you plug the Phono Plugs into the Phono Sockets on your tv, using your Tv remote you will need to select which input you got the dvd player plugged into this will either be called Source Or Input Or AV 1-2-3 ect.

Do you have the audio plugs in the proper spot? The red & white audio plugs from the PS 2 need to be plugged into the audio in jacks on the portable dvd player in order to get sound. Should match up red to red; white to white for sound, yellow to yellow for video. Hope this helps.

Here are some things to remember when messing with cables TO and FROM electronic audio/visual
devices. YELLOW connectors are for what you SEE on the screen of your TV or other viewing device.
The RED/WHITE connectors are for what your ears will hear, LEFT/RIGHT in stereo or mono.
Now all you need to do is connect the YELLOW output jack of your Coby to the YELLOW video
input jack on TV. You must remember forever and ever that the YELLOW jacks and plugs never
contain or transmit or move TV channels or CABLE channels or DISH channels. The YELLOW cable
which has plugs at both ends goes to jacks (output to input) and carries/transmits BASEBAND VIDEO signals only. Now all you need to do is make the TV stop listening to it's antenna in, and to
start listening to the YELLOW/RED/WHITE jacks on the back of the TV. You will need find out how
to put TV into MONITOR mode, or AUX mode, or VIDEO INPUT 1. Basically just match colors and
OUTPUTS to INPUTS. Hope this helps you out.

It says that the BOTTOM four connectors are:
1. S-Video IN
2. Video IN
3. Audio (Right) IN
4. Audio (Left) IN
Above the Audio IN connectors are two audio OUT connectors, which you could hook to external speakers, your stereo, etc. But these are not needed for hooking up your DVD player.
From your DVD player, you need to hook up either the S-Video or Video connection (Video is typically the Yellow wire), plus the Audio connections (Red and White). If your DVD player has an S-Video output, this will give you a better picture than the standard Video connection. S-Video cables have a different plug, with four or five wires in the connector, and are keyed so they only fit into the socket in one orientation. Be careful to line it up properly and not force it in the wrong way.
