How do i download Adobe Acrobat x Standard for Free?

Acrobat reader is free. Acrobat pro is not free.
There are other free programs to create PDF's. Really, Adobe is offering the readers for all systems for free. Be aware sometimes PDF files are password protected. You even can't read them with acrobat reader, if you don't have the password. Just visit the Adobe website to download a free version for your system.
Now you can get the 11 version here:

Help with PDF Documents Some documents on Maine.gov are provided in PDF format. In order to view or print PDF documents, you need the free Adobe Reader. Generally, you will find an alternative format is also provided for the document, such as Microsoft Word, HTML, or plain text. If you cannot access a document in PDF format and there is no alternative version, please contact the agency or contact the Maine.gov webmaster for assistance.

We've provided solutions for some common PDF issues below.
General Tips: Problem 1: Blank Page in Browser You have selected to download a file and you receive a blank page with a "Done" message at the bottom of the browser. This may be because you do not have enough space in your temporary internet file folder to complete the download.
Solution: Internet Explorer: Tools> Internet Options> Temporary Internet Files> select Delete Files
Netscape: Edit> Preferences> Under Category on the left Advanced> Cache> click Clear Memory Cache
Problem 2: Blank Page "%PDF" You received an error message containing "% PDF" or you have received a blank page while trying to download. This is due to a problem with your web browser not opening .pdf documents correctly.
Solution: Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0: Edit> Preferences> General> Options> Web Browser Options> make sure the Display PDF in Browser box is not checked.
Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 and newer: Edit > Preferences > Internet > make sure the Display PDF in Browser box is not checked.
Problem 3: "Error Locating Object Handler" You receive an error message that says "Error Locating Object Handler" while trying to download a document. This is because there is a dependency with a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat while using Internet Explorer.
Solution: Please go to the following website for detailed instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q262213
Problem 4: Unable to Print You have successfully downloaded the pdf, can view it on your computer screen but are unable to print. This is due to a post script error with your printer.
Solution: In any Acrobat Reader program: File > Print > check the Print As Image box > OK
Problem 5: "Adobe Reader could not open file" You received the error message "Adobe Reader could not open 'filename.pdf'" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
Solution: Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0: Edit> Preferences> Internet> make sure the Display PDF in Browser box is not checked.

Unable to create pfd with word 2007 document

That is normal, Word 2007 cannot create PDF documents, it can only save files on PDF but, being PDF non his own format, it will lose document format, and may not display pdf.

To create PDF you need the full version (not the free acrobat reader) of adobe acrobat, or a different adobe software (eg illustrator) that manages PDF.

Unable to download pdf file

Uninstall all Adobe software what ever version you have, than go to start>search>all files and folders, select local hard drive if it is not, than click more advanced options, select first three things in the list and than type adobe in All or parts of the file name. When it finds folders and files select them all and press DELETE. Than empty your Recycle Bean and restart your computer once it is up download new Adobe installation file and install it again. I know that this is pain but you will have to get rid of all damaged files used by adobe reader.
